Request More planes

OK, thats a more classic plane :)
It would look nice on the ramp with my J-3.

As an aside - we could use some reciprocating engine sounds in the XRSound files. Lots of good sounds there, but no reciprocating engine sounds.

I could just make all the propeller engines sound like jet engines, but that would be silly.

I apologize for the lack of attention of the Orbiter Space Flight Simulator community towards historic aircraft. :ROFLMAO: You are right, a such a sound could be a good gapfiller in many current projects.

How does the the rear seat position look like? Anything there for the RSO? I constly forget that the SR-71 does not much without aerial refueling or a refueling cheat....
Personally, I don't know much. I just saw this picture on Wikipedia:

Oh no, I know (coarsely) how the rear cockpit looks like in the real plane. I meant in the mesh, is that rear cockpit also meshed or is only the pilot position modelled?

The only one pilot seat and the dashboard are modeled:

Enough for flying around. Of course, I would really love to try playing the navigator on such long distance planes.

Nice! I don't know how I missed this when searching the addons section.

Going to try it out.
I will point out it is not an emulation of the SR71 (I am the author), but a space plane based on the SR71. I made no attempt to model its air-breathing engines. Still, it was a lot of fun to research and build.

I forgot about forum for a few days and there is so much messages that I am lazy to read them :)

Who is familiar with the FlightGear? Not me, but It's just interesting if its resources like aircraft 3D models and airport objects may be used for Orbiter...

I played a bit but don't know about the models. But you can try possibly. All or most of the flightgear planes are open source on github.

Well, it looks there are many helicopters for FlightGear:
