ok, one probably silly :giggle: question - so can I now delete my Orbiter Development build folder ? is this... that ? same ?
For the moment, most likely they are identical; unless you intend to follow the pre-release versions for the next release of Orbiter, you can likely replace the one for the other. I would personally keep it around for the moment while you test if all the addons you want to use work with the released 2024 version just yet.

Thanks for Orbiter 2024! and happy new year!

I got a bug report to make. When I try to run Open Orbiter 2024 using MOGE at 1440p, or any resolution above 1440p, I get the Initialising 3D environment with a hardware device error, and Orbiter fails to load. Using any resolution below 1440p, orbiter works as expected. No such issue with dx9 client. Is this a known limitation of MOGE?

Yes. DX7 does not support resolutions above 1920x1080.

So I noticed a problem not sure if I have to change something on my end but I Installed the following addons

Wideawake International = https://www.orbiter-forum.com/resources/wideawake-international.3734/

X-R2 RavenStar = Site =https://www.alteaaerospace.com/index-3.html
Download = https://www.alteaaerospace.com/ccount/click.php?id=3

Senario = Wideawake/Wingedlaunch/XR2 Launch

Issue - XR2 is landed on the runway at the wrong orientation.

Also last image XR2 on final for KSC when I come to a final stop the XR2 leans over on the runway -
Please help :) :hailprobe:
Don't worry, there are already OpenOrbiter-compatible XR DLLs, and I plan to release official Orbiter 2024-compatible XR vessels within the next few weeks. But I'm not starting on that before next week, for sure -- I'm still on vacation yet. 🥳

EDIT: Also, I plan to support both Orbiter 2016 and Orbiter 2024 XR versions, at least for the foreseeable future...

Are these newer DLLs available somewhere, perchance? 👀

The best 2025 to all

Is there an official / preferred procedure for reporting potential bugs, feature requests, etc..? I've made reports in GitHub, but more casual Orbiter users may not want to fuss with getting a GitHub account.
IMO, posting an issue in GitHub should have preference, as it can be tracked there and won't be buried under new posts. But if the user doesn't have/want an account there, I'd say posting in a thread here works as well. We had this one for the later part of the 2024 development, and maybe a new thread could be created for the current cycle.

Yeah, I held off on making a thread to hold issues for this one because I, too, felt that the GH issue tracker is the better place to track such issues for 2024; creating a thread here for them too would split the discussion between OF and GH and make it more difficult to keep track of progress between the two. You need a GH account to contribute to development anyway!

I love this community! I first installed Orbiter around 2010, and it's truly heartwarming to see such a talented group actively developing Orbiter further after it became open source. Thanks to everyone involved for keeping my favorite software alive and thriving!

Congrats to all involved on this new release! Looking forward to trying out this version. I do have a question. Can I use the 2016 high res planet textures in this version, i.e. can I just port those files from 2016 over to 2024? Or are there updated high res planet textures to go along with this release somewhere? Thanks again!
