Updates Artemis Program Updates & Discussions

We are approaching the 10 year anniversary of the launch of EFT 1 the first of the Artemis missions and it too was to test the heat shield I wonder if it had any issues ? With the launch date of Artemis 2 and 3 slipping again Looks like the Artemis program might be a dead woman walking.

I wonder if a Deep Space Dragon could make a trip to the Moon and back. Might need to look at an Apollo 8 type mission first with Dragon. I have seen these 2 versions of a Deep Space dragon one looks like it has the SPS from Apollo and one with the Orion SM which seems to be the weak link in the Artemis plan

Just imagine 1962 to 1972 or 1971 to 1981 or even 1998 to 2011...

But hey, they sent a dummy around the Moon! Unbelievable! 😮

it will be interesting to see what Elon advises Trump on NASA

Buy SpaceX.

And then the lawyer industry skyrockets. But at least something skyrockets.

But if history is just repeating its errors, the office of Elon will just suggest dismantling any regulations on consumer rights, labour rights and environmental protection... just like its equivalent under George HW Bush.

I was busy fighting a War under both H and W so fill me in on what they did ?

Mostly wasting a lot of coffee and cookies.

I had forgotten have incompodent Quayle was

I had played Civilization often enough in my life that this information is bolted into my brain. :ROFLMAO:

(For those who didn't: Dan Quayle has the questionable honor in all game versions to give his name to the lowest score in the highscore ranking to beat)

Also this old council had many things in common with the situation today, like interest conflcts of CEOs involved.

"We have since determined that while the capsule was dipping in and out of the atmosphere, as part of that planned skip entry, heat accumulated inside the heat shield outer layer, leading to gases forming and becoming trapped inside the heat shield," said Pam Melroy, NASA's deputy administrator. "This caused internal pressure to build up and led to cracking and uneven shedding of that outer layer."

Interesting 🤔

I wish we were closer to a landing but looks like the SLS is finished.. Artemis still looks like a dead woman walking. Can''t put a Daisy on a dead cow and get milk . I think there are still 2 flight ready Apollo's with the SM to get us to Lunar orbit. Well they are 60 years old might have some issues. More likely a Star ship might try to land in 2030. Not sure if that would beat China to the South pole
