Why not Make the new orbiter a universe simulator with great graphics galaxies, procedural worlds and a work station on earth that you can design, create and launch your own payloads for special purposes even using the shuttle or new tech, eg telescopes, probes, rovers, space port building ect.

If it has pineapple on it, it is no pizza.
🤡
Fully agree - Hawaiian pizza is not a pizza. That was just a cultural reference to the Polish sci-fi comedy series "Captain Bomb", where the "Medium Hawaiian for everyone" slogan appears as a pork barrel during popular galactic elections, heavily promoted an alien candidate for the Commander of the Galactic Fleet. It's a recognisable meme during electoral campaigns, that symbolises promises which are easy to say, but impossible to realise or disastrous when executed (the alien guy in the show won the election, but then had to cover the cost of ordering Hawaiian for the entire galaxy).

I don't know if it counts as meme already, but this is what it became in German pop culture:

Seems a simple ides or question on this forum is open to nothing more than hostile reply anymore. Am I the only one that goes through this?
I think we're pretty open and try very hard to be welcoming to new members.

Your "simple" request was to:
Make the new orbiter a universe simulator with great graphics galaxies, procedural worlds and a work station on earth that you can design, create and launch your own payloads for special purposes even using the shuttle or new tech, eg telescopes, probes, rovers, space port building ect

No one's telling you you can't work on this yourself, it's just going to take a bit of learning and a lot of work. Most of the members here have full time jobs or are students, and or have families.

Feature requests are always welcome as is collaboration. If there is something you really want to see in Orbiter you are more than welcome to lead the charge but it takes a lot of hours of work.

I worked on a project to add more realistic nonspherical gravity to Orbiter. It was mostly just expanding on an existing system, and the math was from existing papers. It still took me litteral hundreds of hours to impliment and over a year to test, with a lot of help and input from others.

No one here wants to be hostile to your request, but understand the magnitude of what you're asking for. There is some paid-software out there that does a small fraction of what you're asking for, and it takes hundreds of people working 60-80 hours for many years to get even close to a playable experience, let alone a finished product.

I would recommend you aim for something a bit more realistic and attainable, something you, yourself can work on. You'll get a feature you want; you'll learn something along the way, and you'll make some friends.

Ok then, to give a more straight-forward answer to that question: Because that takes tens of thousands of hours of development. There. That's why not. I'm not exagerating, by the way. That's what you're looking at for a project scope like that.
That being said, Artlav actually did something that came close to what you're asking: https://www.thespaceway.org/
Minus great graphics, arguably. But, there you go.

it's always nice to have new members with fresh ideas
some of those we would never think of by ourselves

Feature creep and bloat are not really new ideas. The 3D terrain for most planets is already hard for some users and I don't know if we can afford a cloud for streaming the terrain like FSX does for everybody including non-paying users....

thanks for clearing that up
but I thought my irony was more than obvious 😁

... I really don't want to try to crowdfund that kind of effort, but it'd be fun to create it :P
