It does not survive long outside aerosols with water - its the tiny fine water spray that humans produce all the time, that those masks are supposed to arrest and at least limit their range.


Even simple plain soap would be deadly to the virus and a bit of UV outside is a massacre to all coronaviruses, unless some watery liquid protects them.


All the rest is the classic russian roulette for all virus infections. Every virus actually has only a tiny chance to infect a cell in your body, the more viruses make it through the first layer of protection, the more trys the viruses get to infect you successfully.

Confirmed, the service section of the capsule is still appearing contaminated and has to be purged (again).

That is what purge means. Something goes into an enclosed space, and something else goes out....

Note that the ship is moving forward quickly to ensure the toxic fumes venting from the capsule are quickly dispersed.

Yeah, possibly a QA issue. Some leakage can't be prevented, but usually a simple venting during landing should be good enough, like on the previous flight.
