Humor Eurovision 2020

Germany will also present their entry today, the rumors say it will be Benjamin Dolic, a former casting show candidate, but the presentation is at 21:30 local time and the media can already report the name this afternoon.

They REALLY didn't learn from the failure last year, when a "jury" of "music professionals" picked the most boring candidates and left it to the audience to just confirm what the jury already decided. (With band camps and song writing camps to pick the most boring song for the most boring candidates for the audience to choose from). Was pretty much the music version of the GDR democracy, with the communist party allowing you to vote for candidates of other parties which the communist party selected to make sure they get their 95% approval rate.

Instead of faking a democratic decision they at least now picked the entry in secrecy.

So, Britain, be prepared: The last place in ESC will be ours.

(The big problem for the German music industry: German pop music is like German airport projects. A song needs a very very long time, is very slow and requires many repetitions to finally become popular. Not one chance and only 3 minutes time to shine. We only win the ESC by accident, really.)

But it isn't done. The fun just really started.

Maybe the Brexit wasn't about leaving the EU but about leaving Eurovision...

Yes, maybe, all in the national news today. Somehow somethings changed.

Still we have a chance of coming last in both!

At least, you are already the first to leave, nobody can take this away from you.

I still hope the rumors are wrong and we pick a candidate, who knows how to perform live in front of a crowd. Guildo Horn also got a pretty good place in Birmingham 98 (Place 7) and we usually get terrible results by sending people who only perform in front of absolutely intoxicated audiences.

Not being an EU member is no excuse to not take part in Eurovision
IMHO there is some good german music, even sung in german. But either they don't care about this contest or the jurypeople prefer bands that were artificially lumped together an in ideal circumstances never before did sing together.
So dear Britain, prepare for the worst! All the last place are belong to us!

Once upon a time coming first was a Phyrric victory as the winner had to be next years host. Nearly bankrupted Ireland till they got the hang of losing.
We still hold the record, but wouldn't it be ironic if we won and had to host a European festival...

Are you appealing to our sense of humor?

(Actually...)

You guys discount Switzerland way too fast. We're always good for a surprise challenge for last place. We shall be formidable!!

I wouldn't put it past the Brexit negotiators to rig the result for a UK win!
Couldn't tell you which side though...

Hey, Australia is definitely not in the EU, but it managed to get on Eurovision.
What's UK excuse?

We don't need one. As a founder member we are a permanent contestant.
Of course we will be taking the cup with us when we leave.

And it is confirmed now. It will be Benjamin Dolic, the song will be called "Violent Thing". (Like people already found out by the copyright registrations)

Here is the official video for the song (It is as bad as expected, full autotune disaster, about 130 bpm 4/4, but feels like tar - mission accomplished):

Lets see how the performance is supposed to look like...but the first omens are looking like the last place will be ours!

But lets hope the other countries are not planning to sedate us.

Now purging my ears with a "Wild thing", in the Jimi Hendrix version...

Not great, not terrible. Didn't have the sound on of course.

After the cancellation of the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 due to Corona, there is today an announcement to produce a "Free European Song Contest" instead on the same day.

Behind the FESC are Stefan Raab and the TV channel ProSieben, Stefan Raab might be known to some ESC veterans.

Little is known yet about how it will look like, except that it will conform to all requirements of the disease control agencies.

Still, it causes some excitement here (as usual for rumors of a Stefan Raab return from retirement. )
