Hi there,
I'm Max, 42 yo, from Rome Italy.
As you can imagine from the title, I've always been fascinated from the Apollo epic period, which I missed slightly being born in 1971, but I console myself thinking that while I was a little baby the J missions were landing on the moon.
I'm a (former) aerospace engineer, but I work as a manager in an ICT Company. I know, long story. I've worked for a period in the aerospace industry, being involved in the composite structure design of the 2d stage solid propellant rocket motor for the VEGA launcher. It was quite some time ago. I was happy to see that my colleagues succeeded in launching the vehicle after 15/20 years of design and development and I'm glad to have contributed to this endeavour. In life, "Tranquillity base" is not something you achieve one shot, but rather a...dynamic equilibrium. :)
But now...Orbiter. I approached this sim some time ago and now I'm back.
I'm not prone to look back at the past, I just want to have fun reproducing 60s space race missions. I think it was just an amazing era. It was just something ripped out from 21 century and injected in the sixties.

Max over (for now)

:welcome:

Indeed an amazing era! One of my favourites as well

You're just a bit younger than I am, I'll be 45 soon. I remember vividly the Skylab missions, and my mother told me I watched the Apollo moon missions sitting in the floor wearing a diaper (this, I do not however remember).

I think you may have found a home here.

Ciao annoluce, benvenuto su OF!
I'm from Rome too!

I like your nick (lightyear in English)

Thank you for welcoming me.
I tried a few scenarios from AMSO already and I'm having terrible fun!

:welcome: to Orbiter-Forum!

I too was born a few years too late to see the Apollo missions myself (1975), but am also immensely fascinated by it.

For me, Orbiter has been a great way to experience the magic of those years, and has greatly increased my respect for the work the brave astronauts and members of NASA did during that time.
