Hey all,

Back in the day I had setup many banner links on downloadorbiter.com that were linking to other sites for free (orbiter sites obviously).

Does anyone think this would be good? Anyone have websites they want advertised? If there is an interest I will be glad to setup orbitersimulator.com to rotate the ads for people.

Thoughts?

Ie, outbound links right? Certainly nothing that I own, or am affiliated with, but I can think of a few really exceptional non-orbiter spaceflight sites that really stand out from the rest of the drivel on the net.

Ill get back to you with some of them if youre interested

Correct, outbound links - think of it as Orbiter Adsense but totally free lol

Very interested, a good list of websites would be very helpful as thats beneficial to the community far more than wingin it!

I'll start planning on the banner size layouts tonight. :tiphat:

Okay, an excellent general spaceflight & rocket science concepts site

http://braeunig.us/space/index.htm

Also a tremendous Moon-Hoax debunking page, the best Ive ever seen in terms of length & comprehensiveness.

And, to date, the only reasonably useful set of launch windows I have ever been able to find for Earth-Venus,Mars,Mercury,Jupiter

http://clowder.net/hop/railroad/sched.html

I just want to make sure that we wont be offending the site operators in any way? I really doubt it, but it would be good to know

May I humbly recommend plain links rather than banners? I remember that on your old website, those images were distracting me from thenrest of the content. I think simply making a links section on the bottom of the page would be enough. Just my :2cents:.

Some "Orbiter community" links maybe?
I know of Spanish, French and Italian ones...

Thank you! I have added these to the list!

You should contact these people:

Douglas Beachy, from http://www.alteaaerospace.com/

Dan Steph from, http://orbiter.dansteph.com/

Duncan Sharpe from, http://www.orbitermars.co.uk/

And Jarmo Nikkanen, http://koti.mbnet.fi/jarmonik/Orbiter.html

Thanks! I've added these to the new links page that is in development!

This is actually a pretty good idea, thanks! I've started putting the page together so that there is a modest links page.

For the space on the sidebar (where there are links) I will use that for 'priority links' such as support, wiki and alike since there won't be images there.

http://www.astronautix.com/
?

I've seen many an addon dev quote from stuff there.

Thanks, this is a great reccomendation! I can see how people would want to look something up or reference materials from a common source. I've added this to the page as well!

I'm more than happy to host links to international forums, after all I have a translation tool in the top right of the website that changes the site between languages :)

Having gotten just these links together I can see that this could become a larger resource so I was thinking to categorize the links such as 'downloads' 'development website' 'information repository' and so on to allow people to find information quickly, sound worthwhile?

 all!

Are you aware that downloadorbiter.com is currently "up for sale" according to the page that displays when you visit? :)

Yes, sadly I can't afford to buy it. Last I heard it was around 8,000 usd ?
