Yay, more XRs!

When reading the thread title, I somehow skipped the R and thought someone was making the Pheonix from X3.

Well, this is way better!

Nice! Always felt we needed something between the sports car XR2 and the semi-truck XR5. This is like the station wagon of spaceflight!

Nice work so far. :)

that seems to be a bit of a worthless docking bay right there. No height. What the heck would I ever use it for? There are only 3 types of XR2 cargos, main, scram, and LOX....unless you have more of those in the works.

And what is the deal with two vertical stabilizers?

What kind of docking mechanism is it gonna have? Is it yet another nose cone docking configuration?

Oh yeah, I want it to be high enough for station modules. Like a Space Shuttle.

Docking mechanism will be in the cargo bay (APAS compatibile)

2 Verstabs are distinct feature of XR family

You can haul strawberries there. I'm sure plenty of them will fit. As long as they have proper flag in attachment
point defeinition.

It's not Space Shuttle. It's XR3

Personally, I have a big  to give for this project. I think you do awesome work, Loru . . . what with BOB and the other project you've got going on.

I can't say I'm overly worried about this one not being a Shuttle reboot; inasmuch as the Del Sol wasn't exactly a reboot of the CRX, either (just as a loose example). Both vehicles had their strengths and personalities, and I'm sure this vehicle will shine on its own merits. :)

Rock on, Loru!

I would like a good cargo bay on this one. Glad to finally bridge the gap between the XR2 & the massive XR5

Well this looks interesting! Always ready to try out a new spaceplane!

Might I suggest a cockpit window similar to the Vanguard or the Deltaglider EX?

My only problem with the XR2 (other than, "Wheels up...wheels down" callouts during playbacks, that is) is that here's this really gorgeous ship with an enormous canopy showing...a couple of Toons inside.

Purely aesthetic, I realize, but I find it distracting enough to prefer a different vessel.

Can't wait for this!

Not to threadjack too much, but this is the concept for the XR4, compared to the XR5:

attachment.php

Maybe I'll start a thread for people to look at all the shots of it that I've got. ;p

That's really great (very sleek-looking), but that bay looks as big as (or even bigger than) the XR5. Or that might just be a trick of the camera angle.

And I thought Doug Beachy was the only one making XR-series vessels. But I'm glad to see people filling in the missing gaps in that series.
