But not unexpected - the short phase of full employment was due to cheap loans which had been invested into the construction industry. Many people took a loan for building a house during this time and since there are now so many houses, the building prices dropped and you could not make money for repaying the loans by the building alone. at that time, so many people had been building houses and hotels, that almost 40% of the people depended on the construction industry. When the cheap loans went away, this economy collapsed. And the people who took the loans for building houses made heavy losses.

The unemployment could easily exceed 40% in Spain, if it does not quickly reorganize their industry and create a more healthy diversity.

And youth unemployement is around twice as much, must feel good to live in a country where you're most likely not going to find a job...
Which on the other hand would show a huge pro of the EU, but we're on the surface.

Yes, and we already profit from the braindrain in Spain. We get very skilled people, who are often already learning German in Spain...

But not everybody is that lucky, and those who will remain, will be very angry.

I would prefer, the German government would encourage more investments by German companies into Spain or Greece, maybe by providing some form of insurance, should the investment fail. Or by paying building infrastructure in spanish industrial zones for German and Spanish companies.

There are so many possibilities ... and we don't use them and go back to national borders and national economies. Instead of just saying: Spain is in Europe and European economic Problems are also our economic problems.

But then...we already have Bavaria and Baden-Würtenberg refusing to pay for other German states, after especially Bavaria received billions in the past from that program for its transformation from rural agricultural economy to the modern industrial economy it is now.

Yeah, Spain paid the price from putting all the eggs in the same basket, construction industry. My fear is : who is going to make investments there now ?

I would, if I am not left alone there. While there is some risk that the economic situation gets worse and the investment wasted, not investing there would be the best way to make it worse.

I don't know WHY I thought it would be a good idea to install IE10...

Reminds me of my new [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_of_the_far_future"]favorite Wikipedia article[/ame].
600 million Tidal acceleration moves the Moon far enough from Earth that total solar eclipses are no longer possible.
But no worries: at the same time photosynthesis will fail, so you don't have to witness it anyway.

I still wonder who I have to sue if there's no Boltzmann brain in 10^10^50 years.

My desktop speakers don't work anymore for some reason. That was a good quality set, 10-years old, with a subwoofer. Waiting to have money to see if that can be repaired, I plugged (via an external soundcard) my computer on a 100W Hartke bass amplifier. Now I can hear a Saturn V liftoff as if I was there and shake all the building

LOOOOOOL... I know what my small 20W guitar amp can do with Orbiter, don't try this at home (unless you have already deaf neighbors)

So, the biggest german internet provider thinks about data volumes for your normal internet, so if you already used a few GB this month you're going to wish back your old 10k times (already done with smartphones at least here in Germany). And if you want to continue with normal speed (which is still disastrous in rural area) you just have to pay for it.

Seriously? Did the Ferengi conquer us without me noticing or is this common elsewhere?

Well, the proposed speed limit (wasn't it something like 364 kbit/s?) is still faster than what we had here until a few weeks ago...
Now we are at a breathtaking speed of 1120 kbit/s... I'd be perfectly happy with a connection that just handles NASA TV HD...
Maybe something is done if they limit the speed in the Reichstag to such levels :P.
