A little expansion pack that allows you to launch Kulch's Space Tanker with Sputnik's Velcro N-1. I found the combination of the two interesting. Press "O" for launch.

Required :

- Sputnik's Velcro Rockets
- Sputnik's Velcro N-1
- Kulch's Space Tankers Release 1

Content :

- A new payload fairing, designed to hold the tanker (msh + cfg).
- An adapter between the N-1 BlockV and the tanker (msh + cfg).
- A scenario (located in Velcro/Launch Vehicles/N1).
- The original textures, used here for the fairing.

Have fun !

Great , shame the N-1 isnt the most reliable launcher there is.

Well, to be accurate, this is the N-1F, the final version of the launcher that was supposed to fly on the 5th launch, after the 4 test-flights of the N-1 prototype, around 1975. That was way too much expensive to allow a "trial-and-error" approach like it has been done, plus there was the parallel Buran/Energia project that wasn't cheap either, the Soviet economy deteriorating steadily, corruption and poor political management... So the N-1 project was cancelled.

The original N-1 prototype that flew (at least, for 100 seconds) could only carry 70 tons to LEO, far behind the SaturnV. It was a desperate rush attempt to get back in the space race ; the launcher wasn't "finished". The N-1F had better engines and a lot of improvements in every section, and was (in theory) able to launch 95 tons to LEO.

Edit : I should have put the scenario date between 1975 and 1980, would be more plausible.

Interesting, i did not know that. :)

V. Mischine, who took the lead of the soviet space program after S.P. Korolev's death (1967, heart attack), explains himself the tragic story in a book that I found translated in French :

http://www.amazon.fr/Pourquoi-nous-sommes-all%C3%A9s-Lune/dp/2854283112

The english translation would be "Why we've never been on the Moon." No idea if the book has even been published in Russia ; that was a sensible subject, of course. Maybe one of our russian friends know more about this ?

I've never been able to find an english translation edition. A shame. Short, not too technical and very interesting, especially because he is very critical against the soviet system and his rivals...
