The same DCS as DCS:Black Shark?

yes same company. they made an A-10c with some more advance use of thier sim. ie JTAC/LightinigII pod/JDAM ect. They have been public Beta testing for months and today its out.

Yeah, just been reading the homepage:

Looks and sounds great, sadly my PC is still too old to run even DCS:Black Shark properly. Will wait for buying it until I have the €1200 for a proper PC accumulated (For running DCS; I would say a €600 PC is enough... but I assemble my PC by a fixed budget).

Well I know what I'll be doing for the next month...

It looks like the final will run a lot smoother than the beta, I'm downloading it right now, but it will tak a long while. You don't need an uber-pc to run it properly. Thank god they have also provided a torrent, but as of now nearly noone is seeding so it's very slow.

That has always been the good aspect of the team that made this and a few other simulations: They are pretty effective and optimized.

Indeed. If you can keep your monitor, case and hard drives, you'll need to spend much less than 1200€ to play this VERY good. A HOTAS is more or less mandatory imho, or at least it increases the experience greatly.

The €1200 figure is actually not about any game, but historically... the core of my first PC had been 2500 DM, since then I always used approximately the same price for planning and buying the best that I can get for that budget... if something breaks, the spare part is approximately the same price as the previous one, etc.

A €1200 Notebook is already a pretty evil thing, but for €1200, you can get a typical tower case PC that is really moving bits.

I bought my current somewhat mid-high end PC for about 900€, but could keep the PSU and the hard drives. If you'd like some info feel free to PM, or just follow the link in the signature. :)

I can't really keep anything except webcam, display, speakers and joystick. The power supply is not that old, but still nothing contemporary. But the whole inside is terribly obsolete. AGP, DDR2 RAM,no serial IDE, old AMD processor socket, also a strong lack of USB 2.0 ports... there is nothing that is worth keeping. If I feel bored, I'll turn this one into a Linux box and use it as second file server here.

And no need for info...nothing against you, I just earned my money once assembling and repairing PCs, and I still try my best keeping up with recent developments - the hardest thing is not getting depressed about the limitations of the x86 technology.

When the Philae lander one day touches down on a comet, I had a subatomic contribution to this event.

I agree a HOTAS is the most usfull in the A-10c as its the pilots primary interface with the aircraft. Head Tracking of some sort is also helpfull. Servers are opening up now, got less than 20 mins left of DL thats almost 4Gbs in 2 hours hehe.

Don't forget the $500 replica A-10 stick to go with it:
