Well the mediums of back up are subject to the same rule so theoretically everything is on borrowed time.
Yes, but your chances of failure of two drives at the same time are much greater, let alone the chances of losing the same data on both disks at the same time. The probability is squared by adding a second disk so you are borrowing much more time. Other elements (largely of the PEBKAC type) suddenly become the greater thing to worry about :)

:hesaid: And more than that, all your truly critical work (such as source code!) should be backed up regularly to non-volatile media such as DVD, including an off-site copy. Not backing up your source code because "it's on borrowed time anyway" is asking for trouble.

Does SVN in Europe and hundreds of code downloads count as off-site backup for one's work? Another reason to have hobby projects open-source.

Ah I was just pointing out a fallacy, just for my own amusement. I wholeheartedly agree with Doug when it comes to back ups. Unfortunately I don't have his discipline :D You would not believe the things I have lost due to my laziness :D It's a good thing programming isn't my profession <_<.

I have found that a dying hard drive can be revived by running a magnet over its surface.

...For those that aren't tech savvy, that was a joke. Don't do it like that idiot on /b/.

The worst part is that I am pretty sure that I will fail ;) I am taking six tests this week .. :D

Did you pass?

Truly it is, its just a matter of juggling between said sources.

Got that :)

Actually a dying hard-drive can be put into a freezer and it might actually work for a little while after that.

Yet another reason to place a 6-pack fridge at my desk as a utility, maybe I could skip it past the IRS but my better half would shut me down first :)

Multiple-choice were easier then expected, the second part of the free response was impossible to do. People were literally done within five minutes, cause none of the problems made any sense whatsoever ;)

I assume everything in the AP tests should be correct and intentional. (It's a nationwide test...) Though, some things didn't seem quite right when I took the Computer Science A test the other day. (And apparently I can NEVER talk about the multiple choice? :P)

I don't mean to be rude, but what exactly was the point of that post?

You only have one kilogram of fuel in the main tank? Or did I misread? :idk:

Yes but it has an ISP of 4 billion...

If he meant meters per second, that is more than 13 times the speed of light. Which is superluminal btw.

But since Orbiter is newtonian, that doesn't matter.

I just found out how to write in binary code:
01101000 01100001 01101001 01101100 00100000 01110000 01110010 01101111 01100010 01100101

Well... ASCII binary...
If I really wanted to put a message in binary like that, I think I'd subtract 64 and drop leading 0s to save space.

On saturday morning (during return from party) I broke my heel. I've just returned from hospital after surgery. And now I have 30 day vacation :D

I couldn't help but notice that it seems the picture has been taken with the camera from the box next to you :D
