Hey guys this is Planetary Defense Foundation - Films here & I wanted to take some time and provide some support for the new OMP 2010 for users who are having trouble connecting to the server.

Before you go on reading this make sure you have OMP 2010 downloaded & Extracted into your Orbiter Folder location of your computer. -Instructions are as follow:

> Load Orbiter 2010 Space Flight Simulator
> Click Modules

1.jpg

> Check both "RacecheckpointMFD" & "OMPClient"

2.jpg

- After you've checked marked both boxes a new window will appear -"OMP Client"

3.jpg

> Select " Network " tab Copy & Paste:
> Server = omp.dyndns-server.com.
> Server Port = 1515 > Select " Custom " as Client

> Type in your public IP /// Which can be found here -> http://whatismyipaddress.com/
> Client Custom Port = 2502
> Enter Any User Name - NO SPACES
> Enter Any Password - NO CAP LOCK

______________ROUTER USERS__________________________

> Log into your Router & Forward Port Number: 2502 to UPD

5.jpg

- Everything above should be Configured Correctly.

> CLICK " Connect ORBITER"

- Dialog box will show saying " Select Vessel "

4.jpg

> Press Enter
> Choose Launch Location

6.jpg

- Orbiter 2010 will now load into 3D Simulator Mode & you should be at the base of your choice

User Note -

This is an incredible guide, thanks for sharing :)

I had to do some jury rigging to get the thing to connect - might want to link this to the 2010 multiplayer addon thread if you have not done so :)

Great guide, I'd only change one thing:

What you enter at this step will show as your vessel name, for example in the markers or in docking MFD. It's a good idea to enter your nick here, because that will make you easily recognizeable by other players.

It's a good idea to have a separate installation for multiplayer. (It has custom Earth.cfg)

ok you guys first Im glad everybody is having fun. Second let me give you guys some pointers

TO ADD A SHIP TO THE GAME:

1: Scenerio editor go there
2: Add a vessel and give it a UNIQUE name (not same as listed in editor or same as anybody that may already have same vehicle)
3: With vessel added to scenerio nobody can see it yet so you type:
%list in the chat window it will show your vessel with a number
%add (number) this adds your vessel to the game
4:Wait for game to re-sync
5: Remember once you disconnect your added vessel is gone
If you want a vessel in LEO then move it there in editor
6: Other people can either fly to your vessel or "JUMP" to it this is done by
\ls (lower case "L")get the number of the ship to jump to
\trk (number of vessel)
%jump to (number)
Wait for re-sync

So you have10 people flying around but whose ship is it? Well I'll tell you how to do this. Press F4 orbiter menu pops up goto "visual helpers" and make sure there is a checkmark in "vessels" close it, hit F9 now you know who is flying what ship

REMEMBER GUYS! Orbiter Multiplayer (OMP) is a alpha version (not even a beta) it is incomplete and does have bugs. Of course there is room for improvment but IT'S NOT FINISHED! Face , the creator of OMP, works on it in his spare time. He is the only one coding it and has nobody helping him. Don't expect it to be perfect and do expect a bug here or there. Keep an open mind. But it does work and is fun. We can get all "fancy" with the server later on for now just spawn a vessel at mars, moon ,wherever if you want and jump to it that way.

Launch pad CTDs when i click the client Module, I have installed everything. Win 7 x64.

All I can think of is missing .NET framework, I use version 3.5 and OMP works well on my end. I am running XP sp2 though.

Every time I activate the module OMPclient and RaceCheckpointMFD, nothing happens. Help:dry::shrug:

I'm having some dificulties on the "> Log into your Router & Forward Port Number: 2502 to UPD" part. How do I get there?

google the name and model number of your router. alot of them use a web browser ie. 192.168.1.1 directly into address bar of browser. You can try to goto start/run type in cmd then ipconfig. type the "gateway" number in your browser see what you get. If it asks you for log in and password you will need to google your brand of router and look for default login usually somthing like "root" or "admin"

I just got it working! I just changed the port number to "1" instead of "2502" and I was able to see another player at 1.0x time warp.

Can I just point out that it's UDP The initial instructions are wrong in that regard and so it will lead to additional confusion.

I have run a server on LAN and my friend and me connect to my server by LAN. The problem is that my friend can see me but I can't see my friend. I have tried desactivating firewalls but still doesn't work.

Thanks

EDIT: MJD went to 0 in both computers so we are syncronizated

EDIT: MJD went to 0 in both computers so we are syncronizated

Check that:

* you either both are in the same subnet, without VPNs, routers or somesuch in between, and both use "Standard" method, or
* the server hoster uses "Server-LAN" option and set the IP address properly in the server.xml

To me your description sounds like you are both on the same subnet, but you use "Server-LAN" option with the wrong IP address set in the server.xml. In this case, just use "Standard", too.

Besides, the MJD value is no sufficient indication for synchronization. AFAIR, it is zero right from start, if you never received UDPs. The best indication for a problem is
a) time-acceleration stuck to 0.1x,
b) no ping animation in the status-tab showing little signal icons "flying" towards the shuttle from the planet's side (left)
c) server list ("\ls") shows your vessels with the remark "no UDP!"

regards,
Face

Yes, we are in the same subnet. I will check the IP on server.xml

Thanks
