Damn son.

This is a ridiculous awesome looking vessel. Can't wait to get my hands on a copy. Can I, as well, contribute slave labor to the Altea factory? I have a bunch of sweat-shop children making me shoes right now... I'm sure they can be trained to make hover doors or something. :D

_O.K._

People asking what you need a dropship for.... Obviously you don't want to waste any time for reentry when you are just there to drop of some slaves :beach:

I was reading how the XR2 has a CHM... my slaves will never know they had it so good. I usually jam 'em in the cargo hatch with a LOX tank and a pack of twinkies!

Now they'll even have chairs... sheesh. Kind of takes the fun out of it.

_O.K._

[edit]
Looks like I will have to model me a SHM (Slave Habitat Module). Gee, thanks Doug for making me work more. Maybe I can get me some slaves to do the modelling...
[/edit]

It's interesting how what has started off as high-end space plane has ended up being a slave carrier... at least they get to ride in style!

They also get to see the inside of an Altea factory on the moon! Sure beats the closet I have them working in now.

Ungrateful slaves.

(Sorry if this was already asked, but I don't have the desire to go through 8 pages of posts)

What is the mass of the XR2 going to be?

What is the mass of the XR2 going to be?

Although these figures are still subject to change, I can post some preliminary specs. Without any payload, dry mass is 16,080 kg (35,450 lb). Fully-fueled mass with no payload, 14 days LOX, and a full crew is 35,748 kg (78,811 lb). Dimensions are 23.91 m long X 18.95 m wide X 7.05 m high (gear-up).

With an empty payload bay the Ravenstar will pull just over 4 G's acceleration during SCRAM ascent with both the main and SCRAM engines at full power -- it will even outrun an empty XR5 (~3.6 G's). It also features Altea Aerospace Generation III SCRAM engines good to ~mach 20 like the Generation II engines, but with a slightly wider performance envelope: the Ravenstar's SCRAM engines are operable from ~mach 3.5 to mach 20 vs. ~mach 4.5 to mach 20 for the Generation II engines.

Typical minimum payload mass will be the CHM, which adds an extra 2,047 kg (4313 lb). Maximum recommended payload mass is 10,974 kg (24,193 lb), for a total mass of 46,543 kg (102,610 lb) with 14 days LOX and a nominal crew of 14.

Although the Ravenstar includes a payload system like the XR5's, I want to reiterate that the Ravenstar's primary role is a "luxury Learjet" designed to carry a crew of up to 14 in comfort and style.

Sounds good, Doug, i expect you'll continue to tweak those numbers, doubt i'll want to make any changes to whatever figures you think are best. Hope i get a test flight in it soon.:)

i've held off posting these updates for a while, but here are a few additional bits and pieces

The -cough- on the female figures look a bit prominent,, but then maybe its just the suit.

However the rest of it looks good.

@Doug: With figures like that, She'll be a good one for both cargo and passengers.

Coolhand, please stop that! You're making the XR2 look way too professional!

But the helmets on the spacesuits lack lights. Perhaps you could put little lights mounted on the side of the helmets?

"This feature is by design." :)

In any case, remember that you can assign any mesh you want to any crew member via the UMMu config settings in the preference file. The XR2 will also include Greg Burch's high-poly meshes included with the XR1 and XR5, plus you can use the default UMMu meshes if you want. So in a nutshell, users can EVA using any mesh they want -- including Kara there. :beach:

Exaggerated coughs tend to be the norm for computer-graphic female figures. Haven't you noticed that before, tl8?

I have, but then they are advertising video cards or Macs. Also they tend not to be wearing full body space suits.

Coolhand, your work is starting to remind me of the late and great Aresa World Addon. Unfortunately, it seems that it was abandoned before Ailantd released a single ship.

URRRRG quit underlining the text I don't want underlined, forum software, quit that, now!
:compbash:

That third picture. next to the throttle sticks. Are they 'Kara's" coffee stains?

Nice EVA figuress... One question though, will they have that "Da Vinci"-pose whilst on EVA, or will you reposistion them?

Aresa was a sick looking project, maybe he'll come back to it one day, real nice work on that. If i had the time i'd do something similar but it's a huge task to create a whole new universe, i've been working on my own for several years, all high poly though, not suitable for using in orbiter. Maybe the task just got too much with him doing all the graphics and coding and he's taken a break. shame some of it wasn't released as he went along but you've gotta respect him for wanting to wait until it was all finished and present a finished product. Maybe he's got himself a job as a texture artist in the industry (if he wasn't a professional anyway) maybe he's textured some of my xbox 360 models:)

Danny Ramone, yeah those are coffee stains... obviously made while the ship was on the ground.;)

Master of blades, thats the pose i used to build them, arms out like that makes it easier to build texture and rig, i'll put them into a better pose before they go UMMU but there's no rush to do that at the moment and i'm still swamped with work.

do you make models for xbox360 games ?
