Hi I have been using obiter for about 2 years now and thought that the Creator die or something because he hasn't update his website in years. I had up to this time only downloaded mods relating to the DV4 (which also seemed dead) then I stumble upon you guys and a version of Obiter made this year. Now as part of my new years resolution to my parents I promised to clean my room and the family computer. So my question is if I which version of Orbiter is the current standard because I only want one on my computer (more for organizing purposes the space saving)

There are puplic betas which you can see and download on the sourceforge and links are also here. http://orbiter-forum.com/project.php?projectid=1
I don't use the beta as my main orbiter installation but if you havent' tried the beta they could be interresting. But always as a second installation.

I'd recommend using Orbiter 2006 until Orbiter 2009 is released properly

I think you need to at least 3 seperate Orbiter folders, just to be considered an Orbinaut.

Or two if your add-on database does no longer fit on a single DVD.

Right now, I have about four 2006 installations and one 2009 installation for the UCGO beta. I'd start with 2006, given that addons are guaranteed to work witih it.

I have four 2006 installations, two 2009beta installs. 2006-P1 is the only one officially released, so it is the "standard" until Orbiter 2009 hits gold, which obviously now won't happen in 2009...

That said, I tend to use the 2009 beta more often, with the UCGO beta and some 2GB of mods. Personal preference, maybe.

Use 2006 P1, then use Orbiter 2010 (who am I kidding? make that Orbiter 3010) when it's released and tested properly.

The current stable release version is Orbiter 2006. If you are going with one installation, then O2006 is the one to use. It has problems with modern operating systems which can be addressed by viewing various threads in thos forum.

The bugs being listed in the Orbiter 2009/2010 Release Candidates are very minor at this point, but the fact remains, Orbiter 2009/2010 isn't full release yet.

Use the search function.

Remember: Knowledge speaks, wisdom listens.

Thx

Cool Ill go with the 2006 then
Incidental If I could get some add on recommendation, that would be great, I have never really been in the loop so I don't think I can say I'm out of it, you get the idea! Thank for all the help!

He obviously isn't dead, he is on right now :hello:

That's me! Mostly replicas though...

That doesn't prove anything. He could have transferred his consciousness to the ether. In fact, I believe Martin is Orbiter....

That's what he was planning to do with that surplus ENCOM laser he bought on eBay then.

Look out, he may be coming for your hard drive with a mean frisbee...
