What is your MBTI?

I don't like the Meyers-Briggs aproach too much. It's usually ok to use for comparison with a generic Job profile, but when it comes to specific tasks inside a team, it just doesn't cut it.

Indeed. There are quite a few papers out there that point out a lot of flaws in the tests. They specifically dis-advise the use of these tests to employers, hiring new employees.

Also, wouldn't an online MBIT test be comparable in quality to an online IQ test? You know, kind of like the tests where everyone scores above average :P

IQ tests only measure aptitude at taking IQ tests. But the MBTI isn't a directional measure, it's a classification. There is no "average" to beat.

I don't put much stock in personality profiles, but it's at least useful to know what an employer is going to see. It's not hard to recognize a Meyers-Briggs test in the battery of tests that many larger employers put applicants through.

The funny thing about large-scale profiling is that it all tends to fall apart when you get to the finer detail levels.

Oh, there's some really good ones. I'm particularly fond of the PSTR in germany, no Idea if it already exists in english (it can't just be translated. The whole set of questions has to be adapted to the specific culture, a process that takes some time for research and testing).
It's pretty deep, has a lying detector built in, and is absolutely invaluable when you have to make a team work together in a short time, because it helps everyone understand reactions, motivations and abilities of the others. People get along better and as a team leader you have a really powerfull basis for delegating tasks to the people you know will do them best. It comes at a cost (data evaluation of one test costs 180 euros) but considering that you can significantly improve the teambuilding process it sure pays off.

I have tested an INTJ on actual tests taken in school and multiple online tests.

Edit: Browsed the article, and it's grossly inaccurate in my case. My faith in this test is resultingly low. :P

Try this one, I did it and as far as I know it was accurate.

Plus, it was recommended by one of my college professors.

The one I did was recommended by one of my former professors too.

Anyway, this test gave me a more encouraging INFP. Closer to the mark, methinks, but like any impersonal quiz leaves much room for inaccuracy.

It doesn't seem to work with very many data points, and some of the questions are just duplicates of others.

Then again, it could work like surveys, where after a certain sample size the data won't change significantly.

Ah I forgot, my personality type was listed as a "mastermind" which makes sense. I'm rather good with strategy and enjoy reading about strategy. The Art Of War... good read, if you can relate it to today.

I've taken a few tests now. Some say INTJ, others say ISTP or ISTJ. I can't say any of the three describe me that well. I also am not sure if I am truly introverted, or just an ambivert who gravitates towards introversion. I am more than content having fewer friends and a lack of social life, but I love to meet new and interesting people. On some days I feel extroverted, on others I'd rather just be alone.

So in all honesty, I've concluded that there really is no ideal type for me.
