Hello, what do you like most about our little forum founded by tex united under a dream of martins called orbiter :).

I like it most because the community is nice and reminds me everyday there isnt only idiots in the world.

"Idiot" is a relative definition. For example, trivial chatter may seem "idiotic" for some people and fun for some others. So I prefer to avoid that adjective.

What I enjoy about this forum is that we all learn every day.
It is nice to discover our own ignorance and discover there is always something new to learn. It adds wonder to life.

To put it bluntly, there are almost no people here that ever piss me off or make me aggravated (with the occasional exception). That ensures that coming to O-F is peaceful and relaxing, in a way.

Of course, then there's the fact that it's the premier place to discuss Orbiter; though unfortunately I haven't been doing too much of that lately :c

I like it because there are a lot of people here WAY smarter than I am.

I like the above mentioned already. I'd add that it's great repository of knowledge, for more than just Orbiter. There is always someone here who'll offer assistance, or support/advice, be it with Orbiter or (if I remember correctly) a prom date.

The international points of view also never cease to amaze me. This is truely an International "Outpost", and I wish politicians could get along with each other as well as the "regulars" do here.

I may not always agree with everything here posted, but I respect the members who can post their viewpoint without "trolling". There is nothing wrong with "agreeing to disagree". Arguements posted are generally well thought out and verifiable via documentation found elsewhere. There will always be "hot-button" topics, but we here seem to generally be more amicable than some of my family members around a dinner table.

One more thing, very, very little chat-speak. No spamming, and only the occasional lower case i (I).
(OK, 3 more things)

You guys rock!

And, hail:probe:

Hmmm. The only people that give a damn about my physics + programming creations.

Also, as a teenager, I used to make a lot of frags on Counter Strike servers and learned about those communities - getting abused for being a sharp-shooter and even threatened for banning some wild, number-one-males as a moderator.
In short - there's just no comparison between here and there :)

I love how even though all of us span a very wide range of ages, have many very different jobs, and come from all over the world, we can come together to talk about a passion we all have in common.

These forums are by far the most civil, interesting and altogether pleasant that I've ever seen. That, combined with a group of people who are kind, interested in many topics and willing to help others, makes for a great website! :)

Well, foremost it's because of the crowd here, plus I can get advice about almost anything, since there are some specialists from a wide variety of fields gathered here.

Besides that, the administration here just rocks.

What's best about it?

That it's here...

I know from experience how much effort and dedication running a forum or a game clan takes. People think: "Yea, I'll just get a free host and I'll invite some peeps and blah blah." and then it goes to hell in week...

I like that there's a serious lack of scum and villainy compared to pretty much every other forum on the internet.

Hehe, I guess it's more like Theed here than Mos Eisley.

Seriously, cheers for the feedback guys!

Yep and if there is any it gets dealt with quickly and efficiently, and by idiots in the first post i think i have the right to call my sisters idiots(cant turn on a console and when i do turn it on for them they only run around in circles no matter what game it is?).

The international diversity is neat. The overall civility is refreshing. The tireless support for everything, from Orbiter to becoming a dad (that's me!), is wonderful. :)

Also, I've had some very... fascinating experiences with mods and admins in the past. Personal bias, deleting entire threads without notification, etc. on one end of the spectrum, and letting flame-wars run wild on the other. The moderators on O-F are there when they need to be, treat issues with professionalism, and participate in the community with the rest of us.

I like:

. The quality of discussions (lots of smart, educated people discussing complicated things - with NO txt spk)! :)

. People of different nationalities coming together & not feeling the urge to destroy each other! :P

. People on this forum don't "take themselves too seriously", i.e. people are willing to have a laugh and a joke.
