What did you do in 2009 that was a first for you?

2009 was a pretty damn good year for me.

- Expanded my social circle past my four or so close friends
- Had a girlfriend (for a single enjoyable week)
- Started practicing my guitar as often as I should have been since 2007
- Gained an interest in spaceflight and aviation that I'd never had before
- etc etc

As far as Orbiter goes... Actually, I discovered Orbiter in late February this year. Everything I've done in Orbiter (climaxing with my free return sling around Venus) has taken place in the last few months, so I guess 2009 was a great year for me in Orbiter. :DDD

Well let's see;

January - nothing new
February - had my jaw drilled into when removing wisdom teeth
March - nothing new
April - Started wedding preparations and joined O-F
May - Had an arguement with the post office
June - Got married to Garyw
July - Went on honeymoon and started OrbiQuiz
August - Changed job roles within the same company and saw my mother again after 15 years.
September - Started teaching basics of computer usage to students and staff
October - Started Christmas shopping BEFORE my birthday
November - collapsed at work
December - had knee surgery, ran the first Orbiquiz with a prize!,met Gary's reclusive uncle.

met Gary's reclusive uncle.

A reclusive uncle is always better then a repulsive uncle.

Ah yes, I had my wisdom teeth removed this year as well. A first for me as far as oral surgery is concerned, and I'm hoping a last...

Watched every game that the New York Yankees played this postseason.
Watched them win the World Series.
Produced a short film for school on which I got 98 percent and an invitation to the School Tech Expo

TNeo - actually that uncle is pretty good - quiet but nice :D

ThatGuy - Yes you must say more!

Hmm, let's see...

. Started studying Electronic Engineering.
. Flew an aircraft.
. Saw the ISS, Space Shuttle and External Tank pass over my house for the first time.
. Elevated my knowledge of spaceflight to a higher level! :P

Bah, I've been doing that ever since I was a kid. :P

- Started training for my private pilot's licence - I am now approaching my 10th hour and am doing takeoffs, circuits and landings all by myself.
- Actually started my interest in spaceflight and astronomy.
- Got an ISS astronaut to make a video for me while on the station.
- Got my first telescope and saw the most amazing sights I have seen to this day.
- Created some Orbiter addons and became proficient with Gmax.

Oh, that reminds me, I need to add something:

. Sent a written question to, and got a written reply from space tourist Charles Simonyi while he was on the ISS!

You wanna maybe share some details with us?? :)

I have posted it in the off-topic forum earlier, but here it is again:

:)

- I also saw a satellite up close (tonight), when it passed in front of the Moon while I was viewing it at 130X magnification.

It wasn't just 2009, also 2008, but I have to say that working on the
infrastructure for the LRO mission, and Helping Brianj out with the docs
for his LRO/LCROSS addon have been the highlights of my career.

I just remembered that I also:
Got a book signed by Buzz Aldrin. :)

Oh, and I also lost both of my assembled rockets. >_<
I had a ~1ft tall rocket lost in woods. My 4ft rocket failed to deploy it's chute and smashed into the ground.
