Something rather poignant...

"Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds"

While some landlubbers are explaining how terrible incompetent the captain of the ship stranded near Germany was during the past storm and how incompetent the crew of the tugboat was for failing to make connection with the damaged ship, here some view of how it was like: In 11 Bft winds, on the North Sea, on this tug boat named Nordic.

Somehow all ignore that the marine accident command even deployed specialists on the ship by helicopter in this storm, who failed to make connection to the tug during the storm as well. The captain of the ship decided that its too dangerous for his crew to go outside.

Surprisingly slow, even though the observers are far, probably. If you're not that close to ground zero and you realize what it is as it's reeentering, you might even have time to seek cover, at least from the initial flash. If we factor in the time until the shockwave arrives, you might even get to a basement.

There's very little footage of ICBM reentries on the net. I used to assume it would happen much faster. But then again, the reentry angle seems quite shallow. Maybe they were close to maximum range,

Armageddon - Orbiterx Movie

Hello everybody, here you can fly the x-71 ships and destroy the armageddon asteroid, (exactly how it was made in the armageddon 1998 film).

Thanks very much Liber and Guitarist473 for the x-71 shuttles, and also, many people shown on the credits at the end of the video.

enjoy

Some compilations of movie railway crash scenes

Probably the most interesting is episode 12 (Foreign Films) where you get to see examples of Bollywood both from the 2000s and from what I am guessing is the first years after Independence.

My processing of Apollo 8 TV footage:

I've corrected a bit of the fish eye lens, and that helps. The original video quality is poor, but at least now I can understand what I'm looking at.

Unless they move the camera too much ;)

The pre-flight film for Apollo 6, which turned out to be a flight under the direct control of Murphy's Law...

Footage of the worlds first armed drone...

And something else from the same era...

The new cable car to Germanys highest mountain opened yesterday after three years of construction, this time with a few more records compared to the previous one at the Elbsee. The old one already had the record for the biggest altitude difference, this one now also adds the highest steel mast along the way and the biggest distance spanned by wires between two masts.

We might not be able to build airports on flat ground, but this...
