US Government Brings Martial Law in October 1st 2008 [HOAX. Date Expired]

Guess how long a village of armed US citizens will last in a hot armed conflict against somebody who does not care, declaring all citizens as insurgents. ;)

I've seen that movie. That somebody will be entering a world of pain if the insurgents call themselves "Wolverines" and at least one of them is a Patrick Swayze lookalike.

Seriously, guerrilla warfare seems to be very effective as long as the guerrillas play by their own strengths.

But Guerilla warfare is still not invincible. And you can't do guerilla effective without retreat areas and foreign support...

Where did you read this quote? On the fun page of the NRA? ;)

How about 10 years followed by victory? Last I checked the US lost in Vietnam and nearly lost in Iraq. Had the latter been spurred on by US troops killing hordes of innocent civilians in cold blood they never would have gained to cooperation of the militias.

What kind of crack pot answer is laser guided bombs and tank shells, can you say collateral damage?

My point is if the big bad government wants to kill you they will. Now, an insurgency is a different matter, but the way our government works allows for much more peaceful ways of mass protest, they are called 'elections'. If you have enough people to run an insurgency, and not just your own private cult, just vote.

And secondly, Germans loved Hitler (as did many around the world), they loved him. He was rebuilding German pride, and was one of the greatest speakers ever. You can still be inspiring even if you are wrong.

Lobbyists don't run the country. They have more influence then everyone else, but I suppose that is where the 'lobby' part comes in.

Khrushchev once told Kennedy he would never invade the US, because our citizens are armed, it would be suicide.
Of course not: Who cares if some guy has a shotgun when you can just drop forty thousand nukes, or for that matter when you have tens of thousands of tanks, hundreds of attack helicopters, 3 million men, etc. Do you really think that the citizenry are equipped to handle that? Hint: if the answer is yes, why does the military even exist?

If the enemy is ready, willing and able to do the Death Star on you, there's little you can do unless you have the Force and Corellian smugglers on your side.

However, if the enemy wants to occupy your land there's a LOT of bad stuff you can do. Why do the military exist? To conduct a war in an efficient and organized manner, without involving that part of the populace that should make the country work: wars have been fought way before standing armies existed. Tribal warfare has existed before the first draft card was posted.

You can have all the tanks, fighters, helicopters, TIE fighters, HK drones, particle beam phalanx batteries you want but if Joe Disgruntled puts an IED under your fuel depots, you'll have a nice day pushing that 60 tons tank.

Still, once he occupied your country, he does not need tanks, unless you operate tanks yourself. Sniping and attacking infantry is hitting him much harder, but for that you need to make sure, that you don't start removing yourself of support by the rest of the civilians.

If you start terrorism, and kill your own people, you have lost.

Also, draconian measures can also remove support from you, if the invader also offers help to those, who stay peaceful. Reading Sun-Tzu should be mandatory for any military career, but what worth is this, when politicians don't....

Well, in this day and age, you can hit him right on his own turf.

And I have to correct myself: it has been done even before this day and age.

Yeah... but it is also not like such civil uprisings worked all the time.

It is easy to kill a soldier, but it gets hard to kill a company.

Ah yes, Sun-Tzu. Military strategy a la fortune cookie.

Yes. If you like to misread it. If you can fit a whole chapter into a cookie, you are good.
