Thanks for that Urwumpe, my friend isn't the most accurate with aviation stories! I'm surprised it didn't make any news channels here, and I don't remember seeing it in any magazines I buy.
Glad to hear no loss of life. The state of the cockpit makes that amazing.

Aircraft was having it's engines tested and escaped the test stand. It was going to be delivered to the airline 3 days later.

As I heard the story when it happened, that Arab airline's own crew was at the controls and the accident resulted from an unbelievably stupid piece of pilot error. However, this was hushed up to avoid various political problems. But I sure won't fly on that airline....
