I went to an air show yesterday...not really much else to say about it. I would have pictures, but I was the only one in the group who didn't have a camera. Maybe I'll thieve a few later.
Weather:
Windy (It was in Halifax...it's ALWAYS windy)
Cloudy with sunny breaks
Light rain
Highlights:
I got to stand in the propwash of a restored T-6 Texan (Announcer: "Which the pilot is allowing me to call the Harvard," Harvard being the Canadian name for the plane, as well as the announcer's name :lol
. Actually it's more like the highlight of 2010 for me. In the video my friend took one can hear me yell "It's raining sideways!"
I got to ride in a LAV-III and stick my head out of the hatch while in motion. We had to sign a waiver before getting in, and wear helmets. Did they expect IEDs?? I don't know what harm could possibly befall an armoured vehicle in Nova Scotia...
I got to speak with the owner and pilot of a restored US Navy FM-2 Wildcat, and almost got to sit in the cockpit (now THAT would have made my year.) It really helps to pick a spot right next to the taxiway at an air show...you never know what you'll get to see.
The clouds cleared up just for the Wildcat and Harvard, which was nice. For some reason, they played the theme to Apollo 13 while the Wildcat made its passes.
Sadly, the main reason I came was to see a restored RCAF F-86 Sabrefly by, which didn't happen because of the rain.
Unfortunately, while I was there I contracted a flu. Add that to the eye and ear infections I already have... I'm having as many system anomalies as my computer.
