This might take a while, but I'm tired of the bugs and I like a very populated and rocky solar system. I'm thinking of going to go through The Outer Planets, moon by moon, find the ones that work and throw out the ones that don't , and put them together in a new add-on package (with credit to Rolf, of course). Would this be of interest to anyone?

A few ideas

-Could you consider an OuterPlanets "Lite." We probably don't need every tiny irregular captured asteroid. Perhaps a cutoff diameter would be in order.

-This add-on has some great irregular asteroid shapes and textures:

Perhaps they could be used in lieu of spheres.

-It would be awesome if you could get the Saturn trojan moons to, you know, trojan. I think the dlls were broken in Orbiter 2010.

Good. I have some of the latest Cassini global maps converted to Orbiter format.
If needed, I can provide those for further development, but they will be large to release as a complete pack. And someone would need to dig through the credits as appropriate.

Another option would be to approach the Celestia people and just convert their things...

For cutoff I'd only include objects that are at least 50% mapped.
And if we are using meshes, let's add a blank base at 0 altitude, so that one can land and not be above/below surface.

Go for it, right now I'm running a mix of several different minor bodies in my install. An updated version of the Outer Planets addons would be nice.

Most definitely would be used, and thanks for taking the time to do it!

You experiencing the "base object lists ctd"? Double check that you have the patch installed for one of the jovian moons. I believe it has an out of date base config on one of them that causes the CTD. Once I got rid of that glitch it runs smooth as silk for me

Edit: just for the record, check out my last post here for more info

After installing both patches, a number of moons still give a CTD for me, when I switch from cockpit to external view. Notably the inner moons of Jupiter. They did on my last machine, and they still do. And one of the moons (Amalthea, I think) is invisible.

I'll take a look tommorow to see whats up. I never noticed this before, so it may be specific to your machine, but maybe not, so its worth checking...
