Looking at that picture, I finally understand why nomads in the far north of Siberia actually travel north to prepare for the winter.
Back to the main subject: the situation in Australia seems to be really serious. Are all Australian forum members (and friends & family) still OK?
I once tried to find out at which temperature hot water starts to hurt, and it started to hurt at 50 degrees Celsius. I can hardly imagine what it is to live with an air temperature close to that.
You can deal for short times with air temperatures far above 90°C

For how long?
The other day here's it was -3, and it was so cold that it actually hurt.
I simply can't imagine those temperatures.
At -40 I often notices strange silent whispering sound coming like if from all directions. I don't know what's this.
Possibly the human hearing system reacting to the intense cold?
