Gaming Summer Computer Project!

Yay! So, after getting the old desktop up and running,I ran into a problem. It was way to old to run some newer games. So, I've decided to give the computer a good dusting, and hand it over to a neighbor. Now that we have that warm fuzzy feeling in our tummies, onward!

I've decided to hop back into PC gaming, and thought that after watching several of the members discussing home-built computers. I figured that I could do it myself, at least, the putting it together part. What I need to know is, will the parts be compatible. Currently, sans the monitor, and speaker system, I've managed to find the essentials on newegg.com for $850 USD (thereabouts).

Now, with Win7 Home Premium SP1 64bit OEM and keyboard/mouse from Logitec, it totals to a huge sum of...851.90 USD (not including s/h, and whatever taxes can be pinned onto it).
How do you think I did? Should I go throw the design in the dumpster, or start the process? I hope to have everything finished, Desk, Chair, Computer, so on and such forth, by September. Want to see me lose my sanity day by day?

Sounds great, but awfully expensive. Isn't there a way to build a computer cheaper than that? I bought my system online, prebuilt, for $140...

A friend said 'Take the market equivalent of the parts in an Alienware, throw them together, you save yourself 300$'

I think if all goes well, it'll be able to handle BF3 and FSX just great.

Well the Processor won't fit with the motherboard.

The motherboard has a socket type "AM3+" and the Processor has a socket type of
"LGA 1156". Here is a list of AM3+ Processors that will fit.

To build your own PC you have to start by choosing witch motherboard, then processor, RAM, Graphics card (If necessary). After you have chosen those you can pick a power supply that can supply 50% more then they require. Then you can select a case to fit it all in. Storage and optical drives are needed but are not critical to selecting any of the other components.
