STS-130 Updates

Where did they stow the temporary ORU holder they took off of Dextre ?

Node 3's hatch has been opened! :)

Node 3's hatch leading into Cupola will be opened in ~1 hour 30 mins!

NASA have released some more Node 3 installation photos in the Expedition 22 Image Gallery (see pages 52 through 56)!
One of my favourites. Don't let go!

So who wants to stow away on STS-131? I've played tons of Splinter Cell and can infiltrate anything. We could hide in the bathroom or something...

The MPLM will provide some great opportunities! :)

I have a great way you can get onboard, and it won't require you to infiltrate anything – you can just let the MPLM workers unsuspectingly load you aboard!

Here’s what you do:

. Go to KSC & buy a ticket for a tour of the SSPF (Space Station Processing Facility - where the MPLM is stored & processed).

. When the tour guide’s back is turned, quickly don the following classic disguise (make sure you write “To be loaded into STS-131 MPLM” on the box)! ;)

. Go to the MPLM & crouch down, ensuring your legs are NOT visible! The SSPF workers will think you are a CTB (Cargo Transfer Bag) & will simply load you aboard!

Be sure to put enough food & water in the box to last about a month and a half or so.
And include some airtight bags for your “wastes”!

I can just imagine the scene when the crew open the MPLM hatch on orbit, and you are there "Hi guys"!

Brilliant. I'll make sure to label the box "DO NOT OPEN. NOT A STOWAWAY"

They'll never suspect me...

Not very nice in case of delays... And it could get painfull at launch if you are in the wrong position .

I can't wait to see the first pictures from Cupola!

Bet you won't believe what the wake-up music is.

(I guess NASA does listen to public opinion after all!!!! )

STS-130 has now been officially extended by 1 day, to allow time for regenerative ECLSS racks installation into Node 3.

---------- Post added 14th Feb 2010 at 02:10 PM ---------- Previous post was 13th Feb 2010 at 11:44 PM ----------

The new landing date & time due to the 1 day extension is:

EST - Sun. 21 Feb. @ 10:16 PM.
GMT - Mon. 22 Feb. @ 3:16 AM.

Looks like a night landing!

My friend in Houston passed these pictures along...Endeavour approaches the ISS.

That top photo is now my desktop image. To me, this photo at once captures the beauty of our planet, the amazing achievements of human spaceflight, and yet shows just how small and fragile we really are. It's a brilliant image.

Same here, courtesy of NASA.gov. Hey, by the way, my dad said that he read that they were having some trouble opening Cupola. Can anyone confirm this?
Not opening it, but installing a thermal cover called Center Disc Cover(CDC). The CDC is used to protect the CBM hatches when there's nothing attached to the CBM. In this case, it's the CBC for the hatch to the CBM which the Cupola is now occupying. There's some brackets and other hardware in the Cupola that is blocking access for installation of this particular CBC.

So far no plan as been decided on but I missed the most recent ISS Flight Director update, so this is current as of crew sleep earlier today. A replay of the ISS FD update is scheduled for 4 pm EST.

Yes, I saw that they were released after I posted them. I had them about six hours before they were released to the public; in the future I'll just keep stuff like this to myself as they will most likely be released anyway.

Cupola has been successfully relocated to Node 3 Nadir! :woohoo:

Now we just gotta get that Node 3 Nadir CBM hatch open, get the launch locks & MLI removed, & open up the shutters!

Will they open the shutters this flight ?
