Hi all.

Me and The Aviator are going to do a full set of STS-126 scenarios, complete with all payloads & with realistic parameters.

First of all, about STS-126:

It will carry the MPLM & LMC + FHRC.

The MPLM is a re-supply module that will be docked to the ISS. It will deliver new crew quarters to boost the station crew capacity to 6, and also will include new exercise equipment.

The FHRC (Flex Hose Rotary Coupler) provides two isolated paths for distribution of ammonia between the ISS radiators and the rest of the station. The FHRC is a component of the Thermal Radiator Rotary Joint which rotates the radiators aboard the S1 and P1 trusses. The FHRC will be stored on an ESP* outside the station as an ORU**.

The LMC (Lightweight MPESS Carrier) will hold the FHRC during launch, & during re-entry carry a now unneeded nitrogen tank assembly from the ISS for return to Earth.

*ESP = External Stowage Platform

**ORU = Orbital Replacement Unit. A unit stored on the ISS that is for on-orbit replacement purposes

Below are some animations that show how the FHRC will be used on STS-126.

Also below is a link to a page that contains many pics of the STS-126 payloads.

Now, about this addon:

The new SSU is planned to be released before Nov 14 (NOT A FINAL DATE), so I will do 2 sets of scenarios, 1 set for Shuttle Fleet users, and 1 set for the new SSU users.

I have spoken to Piper, and he has very kindly agreed upload his MPLM's to OH to use in this addon.

DaveS has kindly agreed to adapt his MPESS for the STS-126 payloads addon. The LMC is an adapted version of the MPESS. Below is a pic of DaveS MPESS

So we have an MPLM and an LMC. But we don't have an FHRC. So, if there are any developers out there who are looking for something to do, then an FHRC would be nice. It only needs to be basic, it has no systems. You won't be able to do anything with it on orbit exept grapple it. It will be in the payload bay mainly for aesthetic reasons. Below is a good pic of the FHRC.

If any developers are willing to do an FHRC in time for the STS-126 launch (Nov 14), then please either PM me or post below. Thanks.

If we can't get an FHRC, I will still do the scenarios without it anyway.

This addon will be ready in time for the STS-126 launch.

All future news will be posted here.

Any comments/suggestions please post below.
Thanks.

That's not an LMC. It's an MPESS(Multi Payload Experiment Support Structure), in the FREESTAR(Fast Reaction Experiments Enabling Science, Technology, Application and Research) configuration.

An MPESS can be located anywhere in the payload bay, while an LMC(Lightweight MPESS Carrier) is restricted to the aft most section of the bay(the payload bay is made up of 13 sections or "bays"). And the LMC doesn't have the triangular lower section that an MPESS has.

Yes, sorry, that is an MPESS, got carried away typing:)

An LMC is a Lightweight MPESSS Carrier, basically an adapted version of the MPESS.

What I meant to say was that DaveS has kindly agreed to adapt his MPESS into an LMC

--UPDATE--

Hi all.

OK, I think I now have enough data on STS-126 to be able to start making the scenarios.

Launch Site: KSC Pad 39A

Below is a list of addons that will be needed for these scenarios, in case people want to install them beforehand (ADDONS MUST BE INSTALLED IN THE ORDER SHOWN!!!!). Sorry about the long list, but it is the only way to achieve realism I'm afraid. You can simply remove all these modules from my scenarios manually, to have just the Shuttle, ISS & MPLM if you want to.

NOTE: FOR ALL ABOVE, THE REQUIRED ADDONS LISTED IN THE MANUALS FOR EACH SPECIFIC ADDON ARE REQUIRED TO RUN THE SCENARIOS DISTRIBUTED WITH THAT ADDON, BUT ARE NOT REQUIRED TO RUN THESE SCENARIOS. ALL THAT WILL BE REQUIRED FOR THESE SCENARIOS IS THE ADDONS LISTED ABOVE.

I would also recommend the following addons, purely for realism enhancement, however they are NOT required for these scenarios:

. Earth L10 package

Ok, in ISS fleet, both ESP-2 & ESP-3 are distributed.
Does anyone know the attachment points to attach these to the ISS (ISS10A2).

Also, for STS-126, the SSRMS will be attached underneath Harmony, but DEXTRE is attached there also, and in ISS fleet, there is only 1 attachment point underneath Harmony, what should I do, move DEXTRE???

And finally, on STS-126, ESP-3 will be temporarily attached to the MBS. If I attach ESP-3 to the same attachment point as the SSRMS (0:3, ISS), will that attach it to the MBS???

Thanks,

-Pete

The ISS10A2 model has a docking port on the nadir side of Node 2. This is where the MLPM will be installed. Dextre is attached via an attachment point. So unless there will be physical contact then Dextre doesn't need to move.

Zerofay32

Yes, but the attachment point for DEXTRE is also needed for the SSRMS, so DEXTRE will have to be attached somewhere else. The MPLM docking scenario will not be possible without the SSRMS in this position.

Thanks Dave:)

I have fixed some of the attachment issues. The following are now in the correct place on the ISS:

. MBS (0:2,ISS) - On Truss
. DEXTRE (0:1,ISS) - Underneath Destiny
. SSRMS (0:0,ISS) - Underneath Harmony

All I need to do now is the ESP's...

Am giving up on ESP's...

I have been through every attachment point on ISS (0-9), with both attachment points on ESP (0 & 1), and there is no way to get the ESP's in the right position.

I will do the scenarios without them. They are not essential, only the SSRMS is essential, which is in the right place.

I've been messing around with these as well and you have to edit the attachment points on the ESP's so the go in the correct places. You also have to add an attachment to attach the FHRC and the expended nitrogen tank assembly that is returning on the shuttle, but it is possible. Also, are you going to try to have the Crew and Equipment Translation Aids simulated? They are being moved during EVA 2.

Hi Zerofay 32

To answer your questions:

. I would like to include the CETA in this addon, but, again, it would require someone else to develop them. All I can do in Orbiter is scenario editing.

. If I do get an FHRC, there will be an attachment point on it to attach it to the LMC. It would be nice to be able to attach it to ESP-3, but this would require
a) someone adding an attachment point to the ESP-3, so that the FHRC can be attached
b) someone adding attachment points to the ESP-3 & ISS, so that ESP-3 can be in the correct place on ISS (on top of MBS)

. A nitrogen tank assembily would be nice also, but, again, this would require someone to develop it, and add the correct attachment points to the ESP.

If anyone is willing to undertake this work, all that is needed is listed below:

. 2 attachment points on ESP-3. 1 to attach it to top of MBS (0:3,ISS), and 1 to attach the nitrogen tank assembly, then after that is removed, the FHRC

. CETA, with attachment point to attach to truss (may need to edit attachment points of ISS10A2)

. ESP-2, with attachment point to attach it to correct place on ISS (Quest A/L, may need to edit attachment points of ISS10A2)

. FHRC, with 1 attachment point to attach it to LMC (above), then ESP-3

. Nitrogen tank assembly, with 1 attachment point to attach it to ESP-3, then LMC (underneath)

. LMC with 3 attachment points, 1 to attach to shuttle, 1 to attach FHRC, 1 to attach nitrogen tank assembly

For more info see:

Thanks,
-Pete

Is the OBSS download really required? Shuttle Fleet allready has it. Or has it a higher quality than the default Shuttle Fleet OBSS?

Well, editing the attachment points isn't hard. All you have to do is edit the Config files. The tricky part is that the ISS10A2 is controled by a DLL and can't have the attachments edited. So this requires you to either get in touch will Dave413 or edit the other attachments points, which is what I've been doing. The CETA carts come with Donamy's ISS.

Also, it looks like I have a LMC. I don't know if it came with ISS fleet or STSPayloads (I have both installed in the Orbiter that I use for shuttle simulation). I'll get back to you on that.

Zerofay32

EDIT: The LMC I have looks like it came with Shuttle Fleet Expansion Pack.
EDIT: That LMC has the payloads from STS-114. So the Mesh would have to be edited anyway. So that won't work.

My ISS experience v2 addon has all that.

My ISS experience v2 addon has all that.

Yes it does. But the problem that I personaly have with ISS experience is that it has so many vessels inorder to get these features. My computer dosn't like it. But it is an option for other people.

Zerofay32

Hi all.

Thanks for your comments/interest.

I think it better to use ISS fleet, as the required addons list for these scenarios is already way too long, and ISS experience would only increase this.

I think DaveS can take care of an LMC, what would be really nice though is an FHRC, if anyone is willing to develop it...

Nothing else is really important - it would be nice to have, but its not essential.

Maybe it would be possible to combine some features of Donamy's ISS (like CETA) into ISS fleet???

Anyway, thanks for your help, I have a launch scenario completed & the Aviator is now working on all the burns, dockings, EVA's flyarounds & landings (using real times).

Poll: What would you prefer in this addon:

. ISS fleet
[ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=3218"]Search[/ame]
or
. ISS experience
[ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=3288"]ISS Experience V2[/ame]

ISS fleet would mean less vessels, but ISS experience would offer more detail...

What would you prefer...?

Pete/Aviator, are you guys talking to david413? This just found on OrbitHangar:
[ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=3627"]Search[/ame]

Thanks for that. I have contacted David413 about with the idea that he does all ISS modifications (like ESP's), and we use our payloads...:)

Hi all.

David413 wants to work on his own, so this is now the plan for us:

We will continue this work, but we will do scenarios only for SSU. We may include scenarios for both ISS Fleet & ISS Experience, or just one, we haven't decided yet. We are still aiming to include all payloads. I think we will now release this addon a few days after the launch, to give us more time, and so we can include a soundpack. Also this will give SSU time to be released.

Any suggestions about this would be appreciated.

I currently work on the ODS, plan to have it ready for interface tests with a improved ISS (Ultra) soon.
