STS-119

This morning's FCS Checkout and RCS Hotfire has been conducted and no issues were noted during either of the tests. Next activity for the crew and MCC Entry Team will be a de-orbit briefing at 12:23 pm EDT.

I wonder if they will comeback today. tornado warnings in north floridia
Luckily then that KSC is in central FL and that the trajectory has them coming from the south, not north. Also that landing is tomorrow, Saturday, not today.

Only concern for Saturday is a slight chance of a broken deck at 5000 ft. Limit is 6000 ft.

My thanks to tblaxland and Orbinaut Pete for the additional and very appreciated response to my question regarding orbital info sources.:speakcool: Excellent links! This is definately going to add new and interesting depth to night sky watching...

Like all; wishing the crew of Discovery a safe return.

The Discovery is given a "go" for a deorbit burn at the second landing attempt at orbit 202! The landing opportunity is at 3:13 p.m. EDT, with a deorbit burn of 2:08 p.m. EDT.

Where do you see sun ?

The people have a sunny disposition. Besides, Discovery's crew will see sun until they drop below the clouds.

I think that the landing facility is almost free of clouds at the moment. At least you could see it on a map on NASA TV just a few minutes ago.

EDIT:

I wonder what the map showed. The view at the landing facility shows lots of clouds.

Won't see much from long range cameras I don't think.

No. Lots of clouds over KSC currently. Take a look on the NOAA link that David413 posted.

It's a tracking map, not a radar view.

I don't meant the tracking map. There was a map view mintues ago, for just a few seconds, which showed the cape from above including clouds. But the landing facility area looked almost clear.

I didn't know the rules allowed for landings in such overcast conditions. I thought there was a rule about being able to see the runway from some altitude or other?

Sweeeeeeeet landing. Looks like a little croswind gusting during flare.

Was great! There were no views from the shuttle this time. Must have been because of the visibility.

What was all that cloudy stuff they showed during the HAC turn? Looked like a grainy video of a steam cloud or something.

I believe it was infra red. I wonder if they will bother to show replays.
