I've recently re-installed orbiter and after a few days of having it run successfully with no problems and without having changed anything from that initial installation I tried to launch the program today and had it crash to desktop.

The orbiter.log file reads as follows:

Moon.cfg is in a non-standard form because I am using the Moonbase Alpha bV5a as part of the installation.

Can anyone advise what the fault may be?

Erm... perhaps you managed to get Moonbase Alpha to replace Brighton Beach?

No, as I said I have not changed the files since the original set up which is why I am not sure just what has happened. Beyond the fact Orbiter crashes when it reaches Mars during the startup.

Hmm... probably something wrong with Mars then (captain obvious strikes again), You're not using any addon textures or bases on Mars?

I just watched the start-up again. the last file being looked at before the crash was
Code:
/Textures2/Mars_tile.bin
.

I'm going to try re-installing the High-res Mars files and see if that has any affect.

Do that... i've had problems with textures made for orbiter '05, they caused my simulation to CTD... And they where also located in the Textures2 folder

It seems to have worked. The program is launching without any problems. I'm going to have to watch for that one in the future.
