At Cape Canaveral, an Atlas rocket roared off pad 14 carrying Capt. Anthony "Tony" Nelson on the Stardust 1 flight, carrying a modified Project Mercury spacecraft. Unfortunately, the Atlas booster misfired, causing Capt. Nelson to unmaintain his orbit. Ground controllers at the Cape along with Capcom Capt. Roger Healey advised Capt. Nelson to come down over the Pacific recovery zone. However another malfuntion occured with the number 3 retro-rocket, meaning an overshoot of the recovery zone. Nelson was later recovered safe and sound, and brought back to the Cape for debriefing by Dr. Alfred Bellows, General Stone, and Capt. Roger Healey. The flight lasted 1 hour 27 minutes and 55 seconds.

I don't suppose Captain Nelson was recovered on a beautiful tropical island? Perhaps carrying a pretty bottle with him? :P

The USAF confirms Nelson on an island, but doesn't have enough info on the bottle ;). However, Dr. Bellows will continue with further psycho-analysis !
