OHM Spotlight Vessel

Brian, please overcome your modesty and update the Date field at OHM.

Brian, this is awesome.

I was playing around with it and attached some flood lights to the default ISS. When combined with the shuttle PLB lights from Shuttle Fleet it looks just like the stuff I'm watching right now on NASA TV. Very nice!

EDIT:On a related note, does anyone know of a diagram of the actual floodlight locations on the ISS?

I also want to go beyond the "Thanks" button expressing my appreciation for this addon. This is the sort of "little" thing that does much to improve the Orbiter experience for everyone, and I am sure will quickly become as much of a "must have" addon as OrbiterSound and UMMU.

Really cool addon! I found a way to attach it to the UMMU's in a usable fashion. Just hook up a URMS to a UMMU! Perfect for ISS repairs!

The new dimension of the "Living Lights". Methinks my idea of a Wingilot add-on is made easier by the Spotlight :) :) ;)

One suggestion: a docking port to dock in case the spacecraft or station dosent have an attachment point please?

If the vessel is config based you can add your own attachment points.

OR

Just add this to the config file of the Spotlight:

; === Docking ports ===
BEGIN_DOCKLIST
0 -0.214 -0.042 0 -1 0 0 0 1
END_DOCKLIST

That will create a docking port at the same location as the attachment.

Thank you! Was thinking about that right now. Any possibility to rotate/pitch it with control keys? Also.. how to detach it? :) Maybe some RCS? :D

A pitch setting seems indicated, if possible - I used a spotlight to illuminate a night launch of a Jarvis-Antares LR stack, and lit only the bottom of the stack. Another idea (with good add-ons there are a lot of featreqs ) - a gimballed autotracking spotlight (set to illuminate some vessel as long as it is in range.)

I was able to overcome this by changing the touchdown points. The first two are in the front of the light with the third being the rear touchdown point. Just make the front two 'legs' of the tripod longer in the cfg file or the rear 'leg' shorter and it will sit at an angle.

Personally, I found using Kulch's UCD more useful than using URMS to attach to a UMMU. Just blank out the MeshName in the config file, and you can have it look as if it's built into the UMMU suit once you adjust the location with UCD.

In this shot, I had the spotlight 'built in' to the turbopack.

Hi Wishbone, a gimballed/autotracking function would be simple - but if I animate the mesh, you will not be able to replace it and use the spotlight module as a torch, streetlamp, floodlights, etc. So, I'd rather keep it simple and multifunctional.

For illuminating launch pads, as n122vu noted, adjusting the touchdown points in the .cfg file can angle the light beam up or down as required.

Docking ports, RCS, etc. can be added in the .cfg.

I guess I could add a "Detach" function, that might be useful.

All the best,
Brian

All you need do is, attatch the light to a vessel, that has a movable attachment point.

Which is why I like to use Universal Cargo Deck.

Doesn't Spacecraft3.dll have an Arm funtion?

Is that possible to gimbal it without any animation? (with saving of flashlight direction in save)

Hi folks,
v.110308 now on OH

Includes a "Detach" function, and the option to have up to 9 "flare" effects (useful for floodlight-pylon type applications)

Cheers,
Brian

Did the elevation/azimuth change programmatically, elevation will be read from MFD scen blurb, but a question came up:

how do I know if the spotlight is ON? I send a "B" keypress at spotlight installation, was wondering if you could allow reverse communication a la MBR_ITS addon pack. If not, I'm perfectly happy with the present situation :)
