Where is the buzzing background noise, and the knocking sounds coming from? Never heard it in any recording of Apollo before :unsure:

The knocking sounds should be the RCS firing, and/or switches being flipped.


The constant noise is from the DSE recorder. That recorder would be running at several points during the mission, and then transmitted (or "dumped") to the ground.
The launch is the classical example:

Ah, that makes sense. Now I remember the knocking sounds. It's actually the same sound one can hear in the entry video of Orion:
