Space Shuttle Ultra development thread

Hi all, I've been a bit busy in the last few months as I've been working on a paying job.

Do you want me to create 'different' versions of the mid deck, as the Columbia middeck had 'box beds' on the starboard side of the middeck. Also has anyone come across any decent scale layout drawings of the middeck. Currently i'm working off photos and couple not so great layout images. One more question, In the current version of the middeck I've drawn the airlock chamber in the middeck, with the ODS, has the chamber move 'outside' the middeck? Here is a picture to show what I mean:

Without internal airlock

I think,

Columbia & Challenger had a internal airlock, as, when they were first designed, external airlocks were not around

Atlantis, Discovery & Endeavour had an external airlock only.

I think the similar thought too. Columbia, Challenger, Atlantis and Discovery did have the internal airlock as standard (not sure about Endeavor), but in later years, the middeck airlock was removed as the ODS could the job and free room in the middeck. I also now believe that in the upper, the bags in the middle photo contains the Orange Entry/launch suits.

All OVs had internal airlocks when they were delivered. OV-103, OV-104 and OV-105 *switched* to external airlock whe the shuttle started to fly missions to Mir and to ISS. In late 2002 or so, it was planned to have OV-102 fitted with an external airlock after STS-107, so it could fly STS-118 in late 2003, if I recall correctly.
The sleeping quarters where used in EDO missions when there was 2 shifts, so that the *working* shift wouldn't awake the *sleeping* shift....

For those of you who don't know:

OV-99: Challenger
OV-102: Columbia
OV-103: Discovery
OV-104: Atlantis
OV-105: Endeavour

That answers my question then. Is it possible then (in a much later version of SSU) to have the internal airlock to only 'appear' when specified in the scenario? I'll create a 'Standard' model without internal Airlock and have the internal airlock as a separate model.

I wanted to make it possible to change the airlock configuration by a single line in the scenario either "ODS xxxxxxx" (making it compatible to shuttle fleet) or "AIRLOCK xxxxxxxx".

After all, you can only have no airlock, internal airlock, external airlock or external airlock + ODS.

I'm pretty sure they must have an airlock, because there's always possibility they need to make an emergency EVA to close the PLBDs...

Because of the scaling difference, I don't know if the ODS will be compatible with the fleet, it would have to be repositioned at the very least.

I don't mean the meshes, rather the scenario file format. I think it would be useful, to use similar keywords, so editing a scenario file does not require too hard thinking.

I could probaly make some highly detailed surface bases for SSU such as Zaragossa, Banjul, and other places the shuttle would land in the event of an abort. Sound like a good idea?

Would be great. I already attempted making Gander, but I have not come further as a single runway yet. If you could make Gander and Shannon first, we would have the most important abort sites ready (3 engine out case)
