Project Space Shuttle Cygnus

Here's a couple: Stargazer, Lacedaemon and Thermopylae. or if you want more than one word names: Angel of the Heavens... thats all I got

Nice names... Sirius and Cruzeiro do Sul OK, but Antares is the name of the italian ship...

Since Cygnus is the name for a constellation: Andromeda, Orion and Vela.

OV-001 - Cygnus
OV-002 - Sirius
OV-003 - Crux (Cruzeiro do Sul)
OV-004 - Andromeda
OV-005 - ?

I would go for Auriga or Aquila.

OV-004 - Silisko

:P

For a serious idea, I would say Pontes.

Taurus that sounds good, so anyway any updates on Launch Procedures?

No, I'm creating the OV-001. Tomorrow the windows will be ready to go, and the next step will be the VC, the details and new wings (the current wings aren't good for me...). The launch will use a winged carrier powered with Solid Fuel. The second stage will feature the auxiliary boosters.

hmmm looking forward to it. The Auxiliary Boosters gonna stay on after its job for later use or will it be jettisoned as soon as its done

Hmm, solid fuel sounds a bit dangerous for runway takeoff. Maybe jet engines for takeoff?

The auxiliary boosters will be jettisoned...
The takeoff will start with jet engines, the ascent will use the solid rockets and the RTLS of the winged carrier will use jet engines...

Wow! It's late. I was watching my model and it has no symmetry, the windows aren't good with this, so I'll spend the next days improving the details and transforming this spacecraft on a perfect spacecraft! I love perfection... I'll not post too much screenshots now, maybe one screenshot for each day, so the thread is open for general questions and discussions about the Cygnus...

I'm sorry, but the scale of the 3ds max isn't the same of the Orbiter, so I can't say exactly the size... But it's very big, maybe two times the size of the shuttle now...

I had the same problem with CST-100 and Gateway Station, in drawing; everything is in scale and perfect. It even measures out, but once converted from 3DS to MSH the scale of the object changes, making it very large in universe.

You have to use yet another program to scale the MSH down to in universe size. Exporting MAXtoMSH from 3DS is not enough. Good luck.

I used the mesh/3ds max importer/exporter, so I can make a size almost perfect.. When I said about the scale I was talking about numbers.

You could eliminate all your problems with AC3D.

Pros

1. excellent in program mapper and texturing.

2. scaling is the same as Orbiter

3. easy in/out plugin with alot other formats also.

4. very easy to master

5. easily configures vectors for animations. (biggy)

6. Most fun you can have with your clothes on.

Cons

1. 80 US (modest in my book)

2. Will not save position and scale of loaded pics, such as 3-view drawings. However there is a way around this.

Maybe for another versions of the Cygnus, but now my model is almost complete. The windows are almost ready, and the forward RCS group is almost complete too.

I have my 3ds max set to display units in centimeters, while having the internal units set to meters. Just pretend everything is in meters instead of centimeters and it works fine :P

Hi! Today I created the windows, updated the ODS and modeled three thrusters of the nose.

Tomorrow I'll improve the windows and create more thrusters...

Hi again! Today I posted two textures (Mimas and Mercury), but I'm still working in the Cygnus. Today the model is like that:

Thanks!
