Question Sony Vegas 9.0 editing

I just recently started using Sony Vegas to edit my videos. What I wanted to know was how do I delete specific parts of the video. I watched some videos, but they did not seem that clear to me. Em am pretty sure that you guys can help me. It is most likely easy and I am just making it seem difficult, but at the same time I am new to Sony Vegas. Thanks.

Press S to split clips, and G to re-attach. Double-click on a clip and press S to de-attach its sound. Then, you just select and delete.

On a side note, I found Sony Vegas to be an awesome piece of software. Very intuitive interface, no bugs and nothing I have to complain about - which is rare.
