Project SNC | Dream Chaser

Is that really the cockpit? Looks more like a Dreamliner than a Dream Chaser (sans yoke).

Would a spacecraft really need an airline style autopilot panel?

By the way, I'm really looking forward to this addon.

It's not the cockpit, I was just suggesting it could be similar in style.

There are no images (that I know of) that show the interior of SNC's Dream Chaser.

I guess you could make your cockpit like the simulator cockpit for now, there,s some good piccies around.

There seem to be two simulators, one looks a bit like a Dreamliner cockpit, the other seems to be more like a simple simpit.

Simple and doable in Orbiter, since it's a glass pit. You only need to place the window frames, the console + MFDs, and draw something that looks like a seat. As for the back, I can live with a flat wall. Keep it simple.

I really would like to see the project finish soon, but i still have do to a lot of modelling and texturing work for the interior and "passengers". Is there maybe somebody who can Help me with the coding or the transfer over to Orbiter ? The Dream Chaser Model itself is finished already. So it just has to be ported over to orbiter.

Here are some WIPs of the interior and the Astronaut(s)

(High Poly model. Details like the screws etc. will get baked onto the normal map)

The chairs will get also a Highpoly version later, after i have finished with the general interior stuff. Theres also already one of the bags on the sides, that are meant for Transporting goods etc. . I plan to place them around the hull between the metal structure pieces. (Maybe also on the ground.)

This is the WIP of the Astronaut. Not very detailed yet. Not sure when i will do more work on it.

I will do all texture work from now on through Substance designer 4. So i plan to release the substances, so everyone can do changes and customisation easily through Substance Player.

Are you going to use SC3? There's plenty of people on here who's experienced with that.

What ever works :) . I planned to do a own dll, but i dont think i am going to have time for that. So i think SC3 should do it.

So it would be awesome if somebody experienced with SC3 could help me

Or maybe someone could step up and help out with writing the DLL?

That would be offcourse even better. Question is, if somebody is willing to put some of his time on it.

This project looks awesome!! Keep up the good work!

The interior with bags (I might make them a little bit more white and add some straps over all of them, so it looks a little more believable). If it is possible i want to make them optional because they really add quite a lot polygons and also have quite big texture files (500 tris each bag = 17000 polygons overall and 2k textures).

I also still search for somebody who would like to help porting the whole thing over to orbiter. I will try myself at creating a dll, but that really could take some time  . So it might be faster if somebody experienced could help.

Small texture Update

The good thing is if the look is too militant / warlike or too comic currently, its no problem to change it since you only have to change the material in Substance designer. Also changes can be done later in substance player, which is a free program.

Also i am still seeking help with all the programming stuff etc. :hello: .

I'm not a great artist in 3D, but I think what your textures are excellent.
The Dream Chaser is a necessary complement in Orbiter Hangar. Congratulations on your work:thumbup:.
I think that the Dream Chaser how NASA/SNC project, it seems a worthy successor of the Space Shuttle:hailprobe:.

After about 7 further hours of work on the model today i think i am come closer to finish modeling and texturing. The mfds, seats and HUDs are now complety textured. Also i merged the body mesh and interior mesh together (currently i also merged the bags etc. , but i will remove them probably again from the outside view, since they are just too resource heavy, while being unseen from outside most of the time)

The only Models left to be textured now are the control elements. It shouldn't take too long to finish them.

Edit : What i forgot to ask. Does somebody Know how to create sth. Like a fake reflection for the windows ? Sth. Like in they have in dcs for example. It would be best if it would be possible to kind of bake of the reflection generated by a renderer like blenders internal renderer.

I can not wait the release:woohoo:.

It looks the same (or even better) than the official model of SNC video.
Textures are awesome: OMG:.
Regards, excellent work and excellent quality.

Lately appear many projects to make quality Orbiter simulator:thumbup:.

Carl Sagan approves this.

Quick question: to texture the seats did you paint them or are they baked too?
