Remote SurfaceMFD - First Flight Test

Anyting over 60fps is ideal. IMHO, I see no difference one way or the other between 128fps and 137fps. I'd be more interested in comparisions of the network data bandwidth used between 4hz and 20hz. :)
Well, the message lengths are short, generally no more than 100 chars, so 2000 chars/sec seems reasonable to me. A couple frames per second is great, as I was thinking of a low-budget scenario where the internal MFDs (and extMFDs) were still being used and additional CPUs were brought in as the remote MFDs are released and budget allowed. Considering the increase in framerate by offloading the MFDs, I think there's good incentive for MFD devs to jump in.

So just so I am up to play with this project. ( I have been out of the loop for a while) the aim is to have a seperate program running on another computer or laptop that will allow you to full screen remote MFD's?

What are the chances of doing this with the full 2d panel? That I would be interested in.

Good work thus far though

The links posted here are no longer updated. The current project site is: http://sourceforge.net/projects/remotemfd . No releases yet, but you can get the source via SVN.

Yes, the primary goal is to be able have a program running on another computer which can display one (or more) MFDs, getting the data from Orb:Connect over the network. You can also run it in windowed mode on the same computer you're running Orbiter on (as long as Orbiter is in windowed mode as well--if it's fullscreen, the MFD won't redraw).

It currently has been tested (and works) on Linux (Slackware 10.2), WinXP, Vista, and Win7 (build 7072).

I have to keep an eye on this. A 2D panel on a touchscreen would be good enough to satisfy my simpit urges.
