Look, folks, dogsbd beat me to it. NOTHING you do will convince people who don't want to believe. Pictures? Fake. New manned missions? Done in a studio, just like Apollo. Fly the hoax-believers to the moon in person? All done under hypnosis.

Present your argument against them, of course, so they don't get away with spreading BS without being challenged, but don't expect American, Japanese, or any other taxpayers to divert their very expensive spacecraft and programs' missions to waste money and propellant just to satisfy a bunch of of nutjobs.

I realise pictures of the descent stages and rovers on the moon will not convince those who believe it was a hoax. I'd like to see the pictures, nonetheless. The MRO's photo of Opportunity next to Victoria Crater was one of the most moving space images that I have seen. Photos of Apollo hardware on the moon would be the same. I think Pete Conrad probably felt the same way when he came down next to Surveyor.

If LRO resolution is high enough there may be a chance to study some effects of long term exposure to the lunar environment by imaging the Apollo sites, so it isn't just an exercise solely aimed at discrediting the moon hoax nuts.

Just for the fun of it let's just say that Kaguya takes excellent, highly detailed overhead pictures of all the Apollo landing sites tomorrow. They're published all over the world.

Why would the Moon hoaxer morons believe these pictures when the don't believe the "excellent, highly detailed" pictures taken from the surface of the moon almost 40 years ago?

It's a lost cause, some people just insist on being idiots and you can't change that with any amount of hard evidence that counters their idiotic notions.

As I said above, I don't hope to convince the hard-core wacos, just the poor ignorant folks who get caught up in their conspiranoid fantasies. I'm very pleased that LRO will do the job. I'm looking forward to it.

Actually, I don't see the similarity there. Its more like trying to spot a speck of dust on the surface from the top of the Empire state building. I haven't checked the scale for accuracy and I may be off by a few orders of magnitudes .

It is quite do-able though with accurate guidance. Also remember that the field of view is much larger than the landing site so you only need to get "in the ball park". See rover Opportunity as seen from MRO.

They don't want to go back. When they are on the moon, they will develop the theory, that Earth is not habitable and nobody else lives there.

I don't know if you've seen the latest on the "Big Apollo Moon Hoax" over on YouTube, but apparently the Moon has a breathable atmosphere and NASA covered this up...

Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter to see Apollo landing sites ?

With the launch of the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter in November and it having a resolution of 1 meter for surface details won't this once and for all resolve the "controversy" of proving that the descend stages of the Apollo Lunar modules are still on the moon ???
