I think that’s what tinnitus is, hearing a frequency. Mine’s about 8k Hz or so, seems like square wave. There’s a site you can go to that will emit any frequency, several waveforms so you can match what you hear.
My audiologist said she can tell the difference between noise related and age related by the frequency graphs. Surprisingly, mine’s age related not noise although most of my career was noisy environments.

For the glasses, it really depends. I supposedly needed them , but went without most of the time. Then, two years ago , I took up smoking, as my gf was smoking too, and, for some reason, once I had a few smokes, I could barely read a text on the smartphone. Got some standard glasses, of the +3.50 kind. Now, despite quitting smoking quite a while ago, I still wear glasses, but they're only 1.5 and I hope to ditch them completely. If I'm well rested etc, I can read without them, but if I'm tired, most normal text is still a blur.

Never gotten my hearing tested, but years of listening to loud music on headphones can't have helped it. I did hear an earthquake once, tho. No infrasound ability, I wasn't the only one who heard it. It was this very deep rumble, similar to distant thunder. The weird part is that I heard it clearly despite having big gaming headphones on and fighting a damn wyvern in The Witcher 3. It wasn't a case of the sound itself being very loud, it just seemed to 'permeate' everything, as if it was transmitting through the ground instead of air

That's exactly what happens, actually. The sound you hear during a low earthquake is produced by pretty much everything around you vibrating when you're indoors. I've experienced it I think about 3 times in my life. In two instances, the vibration became perceivable towards the peak, but you could hear the sound building for seconds before that.

That's very interesting :unsure:

I never smoked and I actually don't have the feeling that I need reading glasses at all in everyday life. Seems to be just measurable but not really noticeable for me. I can read even very small text without any efforts. An eye specialist once said to me that glasses are not required as long as one can read without issues and without getting headache.

Never smoked. No drugs. No changing relationships. No stress at all. And luckily no strokes of fate so far in my life. Definitely a major contribution to my health. I always did and do sports on a daily basis by the way (be it just 10 or 15 minutes in between at certain days). Not because I think I have to, but because I need or really like it (even @ 3 a.m. just before work or even at work in my driver's cab). People think I am around 28-30 although it's 40+ already. I can sit 12 hours in front of my computer display easily without getting headache, tiredness, painful joints or whatsoever. Sometimes I'm afraid when I meet people that are as old as I am, or partly even younger... 😂🤷‍♂️ But I guess predisposition is a huge contributor as well.

Yeah, sport makes a huge difference. Doesn't even have to be enduro or some crazy cardio stuff, just a regular schedule of some exercise. I used to be a runner, even ran a marathon in 2016, then I kinda gave up. Now I've started running again, but I've got to sort of take it easy. Ran into an overuse injury quite early on, as it's quite easy to ramp up the mileage too much after the first few runs, but as long as I'm doing it almost daily, I guess it'll be fine. If I get knee pain, I just go on a bike ride instead.

One of the people who inadvertently helped me get off my nozzle is an old runner, he's actually 80 years old or something, but you'd think he's 60 at most by his looks. Used to keep bumping into him while returning from work, and, while he didn't run fast, of course, but he was out there every day, come rain or shine. It was a bit of 'gotta get my stuff sorted out' moment when I realised he'd probably not only outrun me as in speed, but almost certainly in distance. :ROFLMAO:

Stumbled upon this while looking for lightning shots on foto-webcam.eu. Anyone know what it might be? Webcam is in Flensburg, northern german border, looking north towards Denmark. Kinda looks like tracer rounds or something.

If you were a couple km to the left, and the arc went the other way, I'd say maybe an airplane's port wing light, but from this side it would be green. How long was the exposure?

I would also say, its an aircraft approaching or departing Vojens airbase in Denmark. Its about 50 km away from the camera location, which might be a bit far away at first thought, but the alignment of the runways fits to the trajectory.

It can't be tracers, the next big firing area in the baltic sea is behind the camera, the Todendorf firing range near Kiel, which is used to train AAA gunners, its about 60 km away:

But there you also have your actual answer. The exposure time in the image is obviously quite long (probably the default max 30 seconds of a Nikon), and also the ISO is turned up quite a bit. Unfortunately it's not one of ours, we don't have that many in germany yet. The EXIF of the original image could tell us a lot more. But I'd agree with the Rest, probably a plane.

Even more telling, if you look at the image at full-size, there's a hook at the top of the red line. Whatever it is definitely changed course over the course of the exposure, which is very un-tracer-like behavior.

It looks like a transition from an ascent to level altitude, or a level altitude to a descent, depending which way it's going.
 
50 km not far at all. I can see the landing patterns for JFK, Newark, and LaGuardia in New York/ New Jersey from eastern Pennsylvania, about 140 km away low to the horizon.

Well, the fun is: climate caused earthquakes are real. We actually have lot of them in northern and central Europe, because we are STILL slowly reverting back to "normal" after the last ice age over Europe. They are just too weak to make it into the news or hard to tell apart from other sources for earthquakes at the plate borders. Geologists are still discovering new unknown fault lines in Europe that way.

We should also have a lot of those in the Alps, together with climate caused avalanches. Since even dams can cause noticable Earthquakes, sure no surprise.

But in case of this Earthquake in Turkiye, it should be clear, its caused by the fact, that the corresponding fault is similar to the San Andreas fault in the USA and caused major Earthquakes very often, since its motions are forced by the movement of three coontinental plates. Its one of the places with the highest Earthquake risks on Earth.
 
The tinfoil crowd already had the culprit - the US. Then you get such fun arguments such as other conspiracists going like ' can't have been the US, they can't even go to the moon, let alone cause earthquakes'
