Why is it that I've only *ever* seen the word written 'alright', but Google tells me that the proper and vastly more prevalent phrase is 'all right'? This is seriously blowing my mind right now.

No, we need to make it a requirement to take it before voting. You fail the test, you don't get to vote.

It's tempting sometimes, but there are excellent historical reasons to reject the idea with a resounding "NO!". Jim Crow demonstrated painfully well how that kind of thing can be manipulated.
