IIRC, one of the selling points of the GTX 970 was that it was so efficient that when under no/low load it's fans don't spin.

Yes, you are right, you are right! A folded up poster came packaged with the GPU, which I had not looked at. Just unfolded it and this fell out...

How do I say this? DOOOH!

I watched Speed Racer when I was like 4 years old. Sanitizing violence from childrens' cartoons was not a concern in those days...

Yeah, the lives of the co-competitors in the races were certainly cheap. :)

But it reminds me, a slightly more serious race anime was made which I enjoyed at that time-abouts, but I was having trouble remembering its name now. I remember it featured some extrapolations on the concept of the Tyrrell Ford P34 (which I was a fan of then, as it was quite unique). Arrow Emblem Grand Prix; it was the devil to find in a search just now with my "time smerged out" memories of it, but alas, this is it...

Talk about modesty! However, I had completely forgotten Lauda's "appearance" in it. Quite a laugh!

Would Thunderbirds 2086 count as anime? I remember watching those somewhere in the 80's. I recall they were pretty good.

Edit -
Hey, they're on youtube. Very 80's... Episode one has an O'Neill Colony.
I haven't seen very much anime, Ghosts in the Shell, Akira, some others but those two stand out.

Anime just refers to Japanese cartoons.

The Ghost in the Shell movie is very good too. Shirow, the writer of the manga, must have an extraordinary imagination. The franchise is prophetic. As a side note, there's going to be a live-action film. I hope it doesn't get screwed up which is often the case with this kind of adaptation.

But for Japanese people, the term "anime" refers to all animation regardless of origin.

(just to clarify, I am not Japanese, I was born in the Philippines)

Wow, what an excellent rendering system have the real life! Surely are using the DX11 client or perhaps is the new version of Orbiter (a new parallel universe).

I don't want to revive the anime thread for this...

That was a great series that produced our company. It was demonstrations of our products made in collaboration with ACME.

Close enough.
I don't think so. :/

Taking a flight with a XR2, you can get there fast. In addition there are stops along the CSSC and Negishima Island:thumbup:.

Negishima is east of the Philippines, and not in-between that country and Japan/Hatsunia, so it would actually be a detour. CSSC (Banaba Island) is even farther to the east.

That awkward moment when you try to google the caves in a region of France and it gives you the list of wine shops in said area....

I actually wrote a short review for Outlaw Star which should explain why I really don't like it

Sure it's not a masterpiece, but at least it's tons of fun.

By the way, has nobody here grown up on Sabre Rider and the Starsheriffs? Now there's one really bad show that somehow manages to mash up all things boys find cool. Plus, in Switzerland you could be even less of a chooser when it came to Anime during the 90ies than in the US

Especially if you only know the German version, which is way more chaotic than the English version.

Luckily, there is also Captain Future.

Oh... my... GOD!

I tried to rewatch several episodes a few years ago and was quite shocked just how distorted and rose-tinged I remembered it

I loved that as a kid.

I'm just going to assume he meant "mad".

The kind that create robot girls.

That depends on your point of view. Some might say that's a sensible scientist. :leaving:

Frankfurt airport last week. From the back towards the camera:

A380 x 4
A340
B747
A321

Wikipedia tells me that LH has a total of 12 A380s, so this picture shows 1/3rd of their A380 fleet. Or 2.5% of worldwide A380 fleet.
