The tone, yes. I get that. I thought is was cause by being married to them.

I can usually hear what the wife is saying, but I usually have no clue what she means though... :shrug:

Oh, that's just cultural gender bias... We males mostly operate on the information level, women on the social level of communication. We use communication mostly for transmitting information ("The car is dirty", "Maybe somebody should wash the car"), women mostly for social interaction ("If you would care for me, you would drive me around in a clean car.")

Not sure if this is really just cultural or also some genetic bias for that, but I am optimistic that men can understand women. One day. In the far future. Maybe with a universal translator or a Babel fish.

Well, a man can understand one women, but it takes a lot of training. I don't think understanding them in general will ever be possible... :lol:

Apparently, now i cant hear noises above 19500hz... Either that or my ipod earphones dont reach above that range.

Look, I'm not quite sure how to break this to you... but I seriously doubt that you'll hear 19.5 khz from your I-Pod even if you plug professional earphones into it that have the required range (which come in at several hundred dollars), because first of all I doubt that the I-Pods preamp can handle the frequency, and second I doubt that the resolution of your Music is high enough to have the frequency preserved in anything but unwanted noise (which tends to accumulate at higher frequencies in mp3 compression).

If you want to check what the real limit is, you should use a specialized ultrasound speaker, that looks something like this - http://www.aliexpress.com/item/41MM...ater-proof-with-mounting-holes/453993481.html
And a real tone generator - any sine wave function gen will do.
Sound cards and digital players don't work too well above 15KHz - if you hear wheeoo-wheeooo sounds, then it's artifacts, not sound.

Up close to 20KHz the sound becomes more beam-like and focused.
Make sure to move the head around - there will be pockets of interference where the sound cancels out, and tones in the 16-18KHz range can quickly get lost if they don't change.

Above that you can often feel the sound is here, but not quite hear it.
Over 20KHz or so you can't feel it any more (unless it's a 100W transducer, in which case you WILL feel it with your bones and teeth vibrating).

Whenever I watch TV, I notice that I miss some dialogue because it is out of my hearing range...not quite sure what that range is yet.

I use captions, by the way.

Got an email trying to phish, pretending to be Amazon. URL looks like it links to Just Energy Perks. (indirectly through MasterCard Australia...) It looks like they have a number of scams, namely Just Energy tells people they can save money on energy bills and pulls some sort of scam with fake bills. There's an F rating on Better Business Bureau. They operate out of Ontario. The Just Energy Perks seems to be scams to get people to work for Just Energy, and is registered to a "Jeff Flowers" according to a whois and the IP location is Columbus, Ohio.
Not sure what to do with the info. Just forwarded the email to [email protected] and to US-CERT. I presume this particular scam may be widespread.
The company has existed since 1997 and been a corporation since 2005. The BBB page is filled with legal action against them but with extremely minor results. ("We won't do it again" and e.g. $80,000 penalty)
