I always enjoyed visiting Los Angeles, but I was always ready to leave after about 3 weeks.

It was just such a different culture. Some of the people were very nice, some... not so much. Just like anywhere else I suppose? It just depends on what you are looking for. The housing is expensive though. My 3 bedroom ranch with 1 acre lot would go for millions in that area. And my out-building is bigger than some of the homes.

I enjoy desert/coastal environments, so that's fine. The housing isn't a big deal, as I can't see myself going for more than an apartment or small rental place. Usually, I'm more interested in the city and surrounding area than living arrangements. Is public transit passable?

I know it isn't among the best, but is it usable? I lived in Atlanta, and I know what living in a large urban/suburban sprawl is like. The transit authority there (MARTA) was rather limited, but decent.

It's not the best, but it works. We've got Metrolink, which is our heavy commuter rail, the Metro, which handles the subway/light rail aspect, as well as bus service, and to a lesser extent Amtrak's Surfliner, which is the slightly classier version of Metrolink.

I should add an addendum to this, UPRR/BNSF own a vast majority of the rail lines in SoCal, so don't be surprised if your ride home on the train gets bumped for a mile long container train filled with stuffed animals.

I eat fast food about every week, eat sugary foods most of the time, live a "sedentary lifestyle," and my BMI is within normal parameters.

Nutritionism is one of my pet peeves.

Okay, Miku (42 kg, 158 cm) would technically be underweight, but she's virtual, so it shouldn't matter too much.

Same here... and then I turned 20 and went in 6 weeks from 84 kg to 95 kg after basic training in the army ended. Took me months afterwards to get at least below 90 kg then.

No problem with some fast food, but you should really pay attention to what you eat. Especially soft drinks are pretty annoying there.

Also sports are not done for loosing weight, but for fun.

You guys enjoy that metabolism while it lasts. For many, once you hit middle age, it's over and you have to watch what you eat.

It would be now the right time to shout a loud WAAAAAAACKEEEEEEEN ... but the festival had its first casualty this year, a 19 year old from the region had been hit by a taxi at 3:30 (AM).

....

Non, si, oooh: Today could have been the 100th birthday of Louis de Funés. One of the most famous French actors here.

If anyone's wondering how Urwumpe browses OF, here's how:

Why settle on tabs if you can just show all of them at once!

Just some pro-tips:

You can use the tablet at the same time as the notebook. A Surface tablet does also support connecting multiple monitors by microHDMI and daisychaining - one tablet with keyboard + two monitors for fast reading.

Same applies to the notebook, which can handle three monitors at once.

You can also use your large LED TV as display. With shutter type 3D glasses, you can display two different forum threads at once. You just can't use it for watching TBBT while flooding the forum.

:cheers::rofl:

AH, another rocket-fuel metabolism. :D Enjoy it while it lasts, Pipcard.

Mine is still going strong, but I do a lot of heavy manual labor too.

Other mini-protip:
In Windows 7 and 8 (possibly also Vista) when you have many windows open right click on the clock in the taskbar and you'll see three options one of which
automatically arranges the windows like you did but without overlap. :)
