Sometimes you can only love the German science community for their way to properly name things:

The "Riesending-Schachthöhle" (literally: Giant thing shaft cave) is the biggest and deepest cave in Germany, with a known depth of 1100 meters. One of its discoverers got badly injured during a rockfall in 1000 meters depth a few days ago, and now they are preparing a huge complex rescue operation to get him back to the surface and into a hospital, which will take multiple weeks. Until right now, the scientist is kept stable by first aid, an emergency medic with the necessary climbing skills took the long climb downward.

The problems are large... The entrance to the cave is in 1800 meters altitude, and the cave begins with two vertical shafts of about 400 meters. Then follows a long horizontal cave (called "Lange Gerade", long straight) in 900 meters, of about 4 km length to the place where the scientist currently is treated, 6.5 km distance away from the entrance.

The cave itself is much bigger, in about 20 km distance to the entrance is a underground lake for example.

What i meant is that in a literal context the naming schemes would sound like calling our rockets:

Saturn V-Moon Dragon
Space Shuttle-Gliding Dragon
Atlas-Fire Dragon

Well, it kind of sounds as if they'd use the term "dragon" equvalently with the term "rocket"... ?

Living under a roof that gets hot as hell. Having a PC running 14/7. 30°C outside for the sixth day in a row. Anyone has a place in the Arctic where I can stay until October?

@MattBaker: I had grown up under a wooden roof with a big dark wooden façade to the south...

Now I freeze below 28°C and feel epic at 33°C.

Temperatures in Bosnia went from an average of 15 to an average of 32 degree C during the course of only 3 days. It wreaks havoc in your sinuses...

The nice, thing, still a comfortable 20 C in the Office. No air conditioning, it just doesn't get that much sun, and the walls will need the whole summer to get warm.

Just dig into the nearby cliff side - one meter in, and the rock is at pleasant 10*C.

Oh, hey, Castle. Your actor took my name!

Trivia: That image actually appeared on the thread because of a thing related to Castle.

At that time I was looking at new releases on Steam and when I saw a point & click hidden object puzzle adventure game "Castle: Never Judge a Book by its Cover" I started searching if there are any computer games in the "Firefly" setting.

Well, I haven't found any released game, but by the way I found that picture. :P

Reminded me of the "Nebula 9" episode. I first thought this episode had a reference to Fillon's past roles, by seeing this picture.

Still, Castle is my all-time favorite TV series. Can't wait for season 6!

Ever tried an average of 32 C in the day to a "balmy" 5 C at night? That's no desert, hard as it may be to believe, but some place in New York State, which I will have the misfortune of living in for a week. Oh, and in a tent. I'll have to pack BOTH my winter and summer clothes, the weather is that unpredictable...

...or I'm exaggerating. :)

Oh, and...

RANDOM PHOTODUMP 2!

In Atlanta temps are already topping 38C/100F, in addition to the muggy humidity the area is infamous for.

Camp naked. Problem solved :p

WHAT?!

Camp naked. Problem solved :p

First off, there should be an "outraged" emoticon. "Angry" is different from "outraged". I'm not as angry as I may seem.

Second, I'll never do that. Not just because I have "public decency" reasons, since a few countries tolerate public nudity. I still wouldn't do it. Because if anyone ever did or does want to, just remember that people have phones and Facebook/Youtube accounts. Public humiliation gone viral, in short. Of course, that's only a concern if you're afraid of it. If not, well, whatevers.

I DO NOT want to start a discussion on public nudity on this forum. Even if it is random.

Lastly, it is 32 C in the day to a 5 C at night. And it rains. I DO NOT want hypothermia or any other effects of exposure. Much better packing my clothes than possibly freezing the death. The weather IS REALLY unpredictable.

We need a sarcasm smiley too.

To be honest that sounds better than the 30°C/90°F+ days where even the nights are that hot. 5°C at night would be great for opening a window over night and having an actually cooled down flat.

In San Francisco, right?

If it only involved orbinauts I'm pretty sure it has to be in San Francisco due to the male/female ratio.
