Probably better than Fame Or Shame anyways...

I want a Cherenkov detector.

Here you are:

Code:
10 REM "Cherenkov detector"
20 PRINT "ENTER YOUR NAME:"
30 INPUT $ID
40 IF $ID="Cherenkov" THEN GOTO 50 ELSE GOTO 20
50 PRINT "Cherenkov detected !!!"
60 END

Today, 10 AM: "Oh, I should just look up the TV Tropes page on Doctor Who for half an hour."

Worked out fine, I'm reading on Chekhov's Guns now.

I was really mesmerized during my uni days to see cherenkov radiation in nuclear reactor.

Years ago our electricians were doing an electrical board swap and the lights went out on the refueling floor (only the big overhead lights, there was still plenty of lights to see to maneuver). I was in one of those "right-place-right-time" moments when I could see the electric blue glow near the bottom of the spent fuel pit.
Pretty cool. Kind eerie.

Eerie? Just remember this xkcd and you're fine:

Unless your plant has the same safety record as Fessenheim in which case you should plan a fast, far family escape for unlikely situations...
Also Anatoly Dyatlov survived 400 rads and five years of prison camp, so...seems like plant workers are tough guys.

Stupid capital vanity... which nearly resulted in disaster a few times in French history. It is a bit bad, if your soldiers first have to travel into the capital and THEN where the enemy is.

That DOES go against 'best practices' in a way. Any dispatcher would know that one should dispatch their field technicians to their first assignment upon departing home, not the dispatch center itself.

Exactly. Or at least have regional centers to use as starting point.

End of days! Hail probe while you still can! :hailprobe:

So, starting a new year with pile-ins and sparks and stones...

Saudi 767...

Aspen Bombardier...

Closer to home (for me), Jeff Bezos airlifted from Galapagos...

And finally (no reports on this one) Michael Bay's G-V, N-5000X, has been sitting on the visitor's ramp for over a week now at Guayaquil. Was he either on holiday with Bezos (are they buddies?) or is he checking out a new Transformers on location site?

Being the first at work at 6:15 AM on a monday morning is a bit unusual for me... but I am still unable to switch from my normal "nocturnal" to "society's normal life cycle" (Had only been able to sleep 45 minutes).

So for some people, I might be working really early in the morning, but for me, it is really late in the evening.

Looks like Atlanta may be getting its first snow of the year tomorrow morning.

We're getting it right now, not so much snow as ice.
The snow I'm attributing to the cooling tower. And it's mostly just dusting.

Yeah. We should all go back to what we really know how to do right.

Germans should be driving and Russians should be on skis...
