It annoys me how my teacher writes the Pythagorean identity as
[math]sin \theta ^2 + cos \theta ^2 = 1[/math]
It could either be
[math](sin \theta )^2 + (cos \theta )^2 = 1[/math] (correct)
or
[math]sin ( \theta ^2) + cos ( \theta ^2) = 1[/math] (incorrect)
The book writes it as
[math]sin^2 \theta + cos^2 \theta = 1[/math]
which I think makes more sense.

I'll take that as a sign that your teacher is not qualified to teach any higher math.

The book uses the proper notation. [math]sin \theta ^2 + cos \theta ^2 = 1[/math] means only one thing, which is: [math]sin ( \theta ^2) + cos ( \theta ^2) = 1[/math], which is, as you said, incorrect.

I found it hugely disturbing that Cole Phelps (main character in L.A. Noire, so California '47) yells at a jewish murder that he is going to the gas chamber.
I always asked myself if that is a german thing, like being afraid of talking about these times...
