No objection to bronies.

Nyan cats, however...

Ideally, yes, but in it's 285 page, (and it's only going to get bigger) it's bound to create at few discussions or debates. Probability and logic dictates that.

Which reminds me...

HITLER!!!

Sorry, but this thread has been defying goodwin's law for too long now.

Isn't the AK-47 still the most reliable firearm ever made?

No, only the most widely spread firearm. It is not known for being more reliable than current western weapons, or even contemporary western weapons when the AK-47 was designed (The German G3 is for example its contemporary, a NATO standardized version of a WW2 assault rifle from 1944). Also its ergonomics are very poor, especially because of the very bulky magazine.

You don't use a AK-47, because you like it, but because you don't have something of the many better rifles at hand. You can see this in the Arabian TV news lately. When people discovered the illegally imported G36K rifles (The second best that Germany currently has), they handed the AK-47s away to others without any weapon and used the lighter and more reliable G36K.

Isn't a manned Soyuz-TMA supposed to launch this night / tomorrow morning ?

I mean, it's not nothing nowadays. :hailprobe:

I will be 5 AM here. I will have to wake up, no way I miss it, I'm currently into Soyuzes up to the neck.

I guess it depends on how you define "reliable". There's a reliable as in "shoots when I pull the trigger no matter where it's been", and a reliable as in "hits what I'm pointing it at".

The AK-47 and the swiss SIG-90 are, I think, two imbodiments of those two kinds of reliability. The AK-47 is nearly indestructible, but have you ever done target practice in the 300 meters range with one? We have. It's not fun.

The SIG-90 on the other hand is so bloody precise that it can serve as a makeshift sniper rifle if equiped with a scope (still pretty straight at 400 meters), but boy will it leave you standing in the rain if you let it standing in the rain without a half-hour mainenance routine afterwards...

Universal Grappling Hook? I mean, seriously.
Code:
clbkGrapplingHook (hvessel)
{
if (grappling hook is shot) {find object hit}
else {reload grappler; continue}
vessel velocity relative to grappled object = _V(0,0,0);
get grappling hook vector (hvessel) = vgrapple;
move vessel along vgrapple (speed);
if (object.pos==vessel.pos) break;
else continue;
}

Maybe?
