Now we have the next victim of political correctness. Many decades after it was released, A Canadian complained about Dire Straits "Money For Nothing" discriminating homosexuals, because it contained three times the word "faggot".

Let me guess, the same people who have very good ears and very small brains will complain soon about Clawfingers song "Nigger" containing many dozen times the word "Nigger"... despite it actually complains about black people calling themselves "Niggers" and dwelling in their own racism.

A long time back I helped run a sandwich bar whose staff loved to play Linkin Park. We all know LP songs are full of swear words.

No complaints. When I took over the shop I started playing Avril Lavigne and very soon some self-proclaimed music expert and a regular customer started commenting on a "cuss word" in one of her songs.

The staff and I listened very intently and could not find any trace of a swear word. It was hidden within normal lyrics, very hard to find because it matched the mood of her song very well.

I make the decision to treat the complainer as an idiot and life went on as usual.

LOL, true. :) Such people are really annoying, they make a problem out of things, that shouldn't be a problem at all, but instead use such tiny details to inflate them for their own glory. Like the guy here, who spend his free time photographing people who parked wrong and reporting them to the officials (wrong parking is not handled by the police here, but by a department of the town, since parking wrong is no crime.). He was stopped by his own hubris. He photographed a medevac helicopter during an emergency and reported it to the officials. Since then, he not only got his own legal troubles, he also is possibly the only person blacklisted at the local administration.

I hope I never end like that... I can look into the mirror as long as I still complain about people flying spacecraft the wrong way, but that goes far in the wrong direction.

I have encountered many such people on the local automotive (and specifically motorcyclists') forums where goody-two-shoes people have a lot of things to say about other drivers' actions.

They post videos of so called "inconsiderate driving" and do as you say posting pictures of "horrible parking" etc.

When I actually meet these people in real life, their own riding/driving skill turned out to be so horrid I exited the convoy the first opportunity I got.

Over the past 6 months I then decided to do the opposite and create my own mantra of motoring civility - Asian driving might be ultra aggressive but we all have the same goal of getting somewhere on time. So, give way to people, and people will respect your own right of way.

To my surprise the Gandhi approach worked brilliantly. People actually recognise me in morning & evening commutes and give me plenty of space in lane to cruise peacefully at my own pace. On the forums, I occasionally dabble at being a technical consultant, engine tuner and hold road traffic management seminars for new license holders. None of the "annoying persons" host such sharing sessions, because they are busy writing inflammatory posts against government policy and being racist against expatriates and immigrants.

This of course started quite a ruckus in the "idiots' gang" and I received quite a lot of death threats. But I persisted in further developing my driving skill, even made videos to demonstrate said skills and eventually popular opinion made sure that constructive discussion became the staple of aforesaid motoring forum.

I love dealing with naysayers and persons who openly declare they are road kings and wish to annihilate all "newbies" and "cagers" (car drivers) from the face of the road. Their inability to adapt to new developments makes them such easy targets for "kindness campaigns" intricately designed to eliminate

Such persons :)

Such persons :)

No, I am pretty sure, there must be some sort of genetic disorder to produce such persons, justifying to call them a people of their own. Maybe a mutation of the a55 gene.

My personal driving mantra is "just keep flowing". I arrive maybe a few seconds after the guy, who pushed his BMW to the limits and drove close enough to the preceding car to read the chassis identity code, but I arrive more relaxed, consumed 5 liters less petrol along the route, and had time to enjoy the music in the radio (The driver is not shouting at you, it is Bohemian Rhapsody time). My car can drive easily 150 km/h. But if you drive just 120 km/h, you need much less fuel and have a comfortable position in the middle lane... the left lane means you drive 200 km/h and still you have somebody at bumper distance behind you, flashing his distant lights and wiggling left and right as if there would be enough space for him. Who really needs that?

If you want to drive your sportscar to the limits without any regrets (except you crash), you can have it with much more style by booking a day on the Green Hell, the north loop of the Nurburgring.

(Sadly the track is so beautiful, that you would like to stop in every corner to photograph it)

120 km/h? What do you take the Autobahn every day?

Of course. Just 500m through my village and on a small overland road, and from then on the Autobahn A39 right down to work. Maybe with a small variance over the A2, if needed. 30 km, out of which 20 have usually no speed limits (The A2 has electronic traffic control, usually this feature is disabled and only regulated during bad weather or high traffic density).

First 2 kilometers are limited to 100 km/h, another kilometer is again limited to 100 km/h, then no more limits until you either switch to the A2 (max. 80 km/h there, because of the laws of physics), or the repairs at the new A39 segment (bad work done by the construction company), which slow you down to 60 km/h for 2 km, the followed by 120 km/h for 2 kilometers and 4 km of 100 km/h until you leave the Autobahn...Yes, fits.

Oh how I envy you.

no speed limits
There are still places around the world where that is so and it matters at once?

Mind you, in Russia there are no speed limits as well, but it's also illegal.

Less and less places, but the introduction of electronic traffic control also means that you practically have some places without speed limit again.

But keep in mind that the Autobahn is a super-highway, no regular road. ;)

There is a Soyuz ICBM add-on, that is very good.

Minuteman 2, R-7, RS-24, Atlas, V-2 (not an ICBM but the granny of all ICBMs)...

I complained a few years ago, because Wal-Mart would only sell a "cleaned-up" version of the Metallica album Garage Days Revisited, only because a couple songs contained the f-word and a couple other swear words here and there. And yet, at the beginning of the same aisle, was Alanis Morrisette's Jagged Little Pill CD, which had the song You Oughtta Know, containing the f-word in all it's glory, and a couple other songs, with a couple other swear words, completely unedited.

I hate double standards.
