Polar jet stream is apparently being weird again this year. Getting hit hard by freezing temperatures in the coming days. Cold temperatures have arrived very late this year. It's a big change.

Dang... We'll take that from you, with pleasure. For a week.

Another Doctor Who season over. The writing (Moffat...) still annoys me at times, but the acting was really incredible from everyone.

Completely random. I tried my hand at drawing humans again. I really, really need to work on my anatomy, particularly anything to do with hands.

Ice.
Lots of ice, such is the nature of Russia.
So, how about making electricity out of it?

People almost always draw hands and feet too small. (remember the original MMU?) A good trick is to practice duplicating upside-down drawings or photos. That way your mental picture doesn't interfere that much with your perception of the object.

Nice.
I always found faces to be the trickiest part.
Distorted anatomy tend to be less noticeable, while a distorted face is immediately obvious.

Is that a thermocouple?
A Peltier/Seebeck module.
Which, if you untangle the terms, is the same thing optimized for different application.

AFAIK, it's a thermocouple for measuring temperature, a peltier device for heat pumping, and a seebeck device for thermoelectric generation, but they are all based around the interaction between heat and electricity at the junctions of materials with different seebeck coefficients.

So, the Falcons won their game today, and we're 3-6 now. Because of the awful division we're apparently still in the playoff race...

Wolfsburg is still leading the "German Bundesliga minus FC Bayern Munich", after winning the ninth game in a row, this time against HSV.

"A thermoelectric generator is said to produce electricity from heat.
Since it is running on a temperature difference, it's equally valid to say that it produces electricity from cold."

Well, technically it's still heat doing it...

The Mi-26? Sure, it's big, but not that much...oh wait:

Big helicopters are cool:

Cold is inseparable from heat.
If there is a hot side, then there is necessarily a cold side, and it feels oppressed by being so neglected. :)

It's not like a solar panel, which only cares about the light side, and is unperturbed by the dark side.
Here the magnitude of the "dark" side matters as much as the "light" one.

And it's 3 AM on sunday night...
AKA monday morning...

I was born left-handed, brought up and taught as right-handed, and ended up confused-handed.
So having the watch on the right hand made more sense, somehow... Somewhen...

Meh.
There's always a bigger fish helicopter.

Oh, goodness Discovery Wings.
I miss Discovery Wings, back when the Discovery Channel (and History Channel) was good.

Memories. :oh:

Yes, those were the days...when Discovery Channel was awesome.

And that music at 1:20, along with the narrator's voice, LOL, memories indeed.

I used to come home from my local college classes and watch this series with my dad, along with the Secret Life of Machines (and off to the Retro Cool Tech thread I go...)

I remember when the Discovery Channel ran an all day Wings marathon on New Year's Day for several years. They had some slogan like, start your new year off at the speed of sound. Yes, please.

I was kind of excited when Discovery Wings became it's own channel, but then the downhill spiral started...
